I got a good deal on the body it's not as slick as it look's in the pic's but it was as good as most. The front end is 4 parts it's all clamped together in this pic.[IMG]

Another angle you can see the jig under the car. I had to make a few changes to the jig it is for my pro mod stuff.[IMG]

In these next few pic's it's hard to tell the chassis from the jig. This is from the front looking back you can see the cross member that's where the ladder bars are going to hit then the front rails just came straight from there it's going to set high enough in the front it didn't need a kick up so it was easy.[IMG]

This is the rear section of the chassis. I left room for the ladder bars to go on the out side of the frame rails. You might notice that they are mig welded I had intended to mig weld the whole car because I wanted to build it quick but I changed my mind these welds were ground of later and tig welded[IMG]

The back of the rear frame rails I welded in bushings for the old school bumper mounts and for a weight bar if needed[IMG]

Now for bending the main hoop. The frame is 1/8 mild steel every thing else on this car is 4130.[IMG]

The front bars. Ya'll might note that I left just enough room around the roll bars for a head liner if I ever want to put it on the street. Plus I'm trying to do this old school and they didn't have these bars in front so I tried to hide them [IMG]

Now it's time for some body mounts these will act as body mounts and mount for the door striker pin[IMG]

The body mounts installed now you can see how it mounts the door striker pin and it acts as a body mount also.[IMG]

This is my red neck way of trying to get my angle that the engine and trans needs to set. I made a bushing so the bar slides up on the trans out put shaft and put my 1 1/2 degree pinion angle and made that a straight line all the way through the main bearings of the engine.[IMG]

  25. Nice build thread so far. I love the simplicity of the build. I bet a few people will copy your build from this thread. Impressive trophies. I have a few drag trophies too but I bought them at the swap meet:eek:

I did not know you could mig weld when I seen that mig welder in your shop I thought it was just a show piece. Guys the reason I say this everything Quain does is top notch. If you see the Willy's in person and see his work you will understand, he always tig welds everything just had to rag him a little.
