Awesome cars and yours is very nice! I have always loved 57 buicks, I had a 4-door special years ago, still kick myself for selling it, hell I only got like 500 bucks for it, no one wanted it cause it was a 4-door.....oh well hind sight right? should have kept the damn thing, just thought I needed the money....Anyway enough flashbacks...your car kicks ass! 6. Check out the link "zman" just posted a couple above yours.

  7. The car is great but I would not get anything done where you as I would be oggling the open country and mountain views. Looks like you escaped the fires. My cousin in Wonder Park almost got it.
    Great luck with the car.

  10. [QUOTE / Mercury also had a 4-dr hdtp wagon for 57.[/QUOTE]

Mercury also had two door hardtop wagons 57,58 and 59.

I got a pair of 57 Merc 2 door wagons as a future project.

This Buick is a killer machine.

Dynaflow transmissions went through 1963 so a 64 would be the first year for a turbo hydro and an open driveline rather than a torque tube.

Now, admittedly, it's a lot of work and the kind of thing that often takes some sorting...but I'm wondering why you wouldn't go that route?

I love station wagons. Learned how to drive on dad's pimped out 1968 Impala wagon with a 327, posi and power everything. My first car was 1966 Buick wagon I got for free because the owner said the trans was bad; got in jammed shifter up and down and drove off. The guy was pissed. It was a sweet ride.

Congrats on getting your dream car, it is a beauty!

Yeah I actually saw that black one that was on E-gay...and actually bought this one buy it now off e-gay at the same time as that one was listed. I'm 100% Sure that black one was listed with a huge dent in the door, but damn that is one sweet car! It was in Berthod, Colorado so not to hard for me to go down and scoop up myself.

There is a build thread on here somewhere for it. I think Zombie or Oz had the thread.

They also had two door hardtop wagons 57,58 and 59.

You are talking about the Mercury's, correct?

Nope, open driveline in 62 and 63 even with the dynaflow.

They are good handling cars in their own right, I would adapt other balljoints this time around, and just convert the rear to open drive. The limiting factor in the handling is the tires, the tires it would take to take advantage of the Jag stuff just really don't look right. I have to say the Jag stuff does handle well and rides nice, the trip to Joplin and back last week for the HAMB Drags was fine. I just think with that car there is a better way to do it if I had to do it again.

Got it up and running yesterday after a new tranny etc. etc. What a great car to drive! Hoping to drive it out to Viva Las Vegas as well as the Lonestar Roundup in the Spring. Still got a ton of work to do on it, but I think it will happen!

Good to see that you got it up and running. 57 Estate wagons have been on my "someday" list for the past 30 years.
