Folks Of Interest Sad day for Autorama & CASI,... JR. Larivee passed away today

Well it's been a trying 24 hours,.... My wife and I had to make the 2 1/2 hour drive down state for the 40th. annual MHRA Picnic,... Our club was the Host club... The alarm was set for 4:00 A.M., Got everything set up for the guests that started showing up at 9:00 ,........

Everything was going smooth until my old pal Harry McAllufe told me that a old friend from the Michigan Hot rod scene ever scene the 1950's Don Brown passed away........

Just on the heels of that my pal Clyde gets a call...... "Your kidding" he said,.. "When ?",........ "Do they know what happened ?"........ "Well keep us posted on the details",....... "Thanks"........... Clyde looks at me with a rare but serious expression, and said JR died this morning !,.... Yeah, He was washing his car in the driveway and it looks like he had a heart attack....

I have known JR and his Dad Bob for a number of decades as they work with the MHRA to promote the Detroit Autorama,... In most recent years it looked like JR was doing more and more as it seemed his Dad, Bob Sr. was preparing to turn the reins over to JR. JR. was a passionate car guy and a first class guy when it came to CASI and car show promotion...... JR will be sadly missed at Autorama as well as a number of ISCA shows.

Please keep Bob Larivee and JR's entire family in prayer as this is a tragic loss to the family..... JR was only 61 years old.

[FONT=&quot] I assume you know by now that Tom Williams who was a co-owner of CASI passed away after his long and painful fight with cancer just last Thursday. That was something that we were prepared for since he had been fighting even longer than Al Maynard (another one who fought long and hard.)

But today's news was just so much harder to take for sooo many reasons - JR Larivee dead today of a heart attack.

Ron Lucas who was leaving in the morning from TN with Bob Millard to attend Tom's wake/funeral. He told me that Bonnie heard JR's car when he came home and when he didn't come in to the house she went out to see what was up. She found him on the driveway and called 911, but he was already dead.

I really feel so sad for Bonnie having just lost their daughter in that horrible car/truck accident....and now this.[/FONT]

That family has more than it's share of tragedy. My sympathies to Sr. and all the family for this loss. Losing a child is a terrible thing and JR lost his daughter and now SR. has lost his son. Very sad.

The loss of family and friends and ongoing health issues with the Larivee Family and close friends is unbelievable,.... That this many heartaches can follow one family is truly sad,..... like I said keep them in your prayers,... They need it.

M thoughts and prayers to Mark, Janine, Bonnie, and especially to Senior. I've known JR since he was 14.

In the business of event promotion, the Larivees always stood out as very honorable and fair, the gold standard.

JR will be missed.

It is with shock and great sadness that I am writing to tell you that my business partner and close friend Bob
Larivee Jr. has passed away.
A massive heart attack took him from us far too soon.
JR was woven into the fabric of the Autorama and World of Wheels custom car show world from the time he
was a very young man. He spent his entire life producing the best custom car shows in the country. He was
completely devoted to his craft and did everything with professionalism and a sense of camaraderie.
Devotion was a familiar feeling for JR. He has been a devoted husband to Bonnie and his three girls, Megan,
Kara (who preceded him in passing) and Lindsey.
Knowing this will be a shock to all who read this, please try to remember the good times. There were far too
many to count.

I had known JR for 33 years. I considered him a good friend. This is a great loss for our car culture community. I first meet him when I was president of the Minnesota Street Rod Assoc. He wanted MSRA to work with him to put on the World of Wheels car in St Paul MN. We did that and JR has been a friend ever since. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Larvee family. The wife talked to Bonnie today and Bonnie said she is doing Ok so far. Some of our fondness memories go to staying with Bonnie & JR at the "ranch" in Colorado. JR loved the mountains and hiking in them. Had some great times on those hikes.

I have been privileged to know the Larivee family for many years. When you are fortunate enough to be able to make a living in this Chrome Plated Carnival world many of your closest friends are the ones that are on the road with you. JR, Senior, Janine and Bonnie are part of that road family. Great folks each and every one. Some here may not realize what an impact the Larivees had our show car and hot rod culture. Take a minute and Google the names and find out. My deepest condolences go out to the entire family. This coming March marks the 50<SUP>th</SUP> Ridler Award. Maybe it should be known as the Ridler / Larivee Award for the next 50 years. God Speed JR.

I've known J.R. for many years, worked for him as a show chairman and judge. He was always honest, straight foreward and just a lot of fun to be around.

He was an associate member of our car club (Stags of Ogden, Utah).

I will miss him personally and the rod and custom world will miss him as well.

Wishing the best for Bonnie, Megan and Lindsey, as well as the rest of the Larivee family,
they have been through enough.
