So, I had an odd occurance yesterday. A nice young man tried to sell me an all aluminum Hemi set up for blower. Looks fresh. Also looks like it has no business being where it is. P.m. Me for details.

  3. Interesting. Thanks for posting that. It could be legitimate but if something didn't seem right it's worth putting the word out, just in case. There's been too much thieving happening and if it is stolen I'd like to see the scumbags caught and the hemi returned to it's rightful owner.

Nevermind! The rightful owner and the cops went and reclaimed it last night!

  5. Sweet!! Do you know the story behind it? It's probably from growing up on all those old westerns in the 60's. I love a good story where the guys in the white hats win.

  6. OK I gotta know. I touched a Keith Black Hemi once, but the fella that owned it said I couldn't touch it with a wrench. :)

Had a racing buddy purchase a 62 Impala SS ex super stock car in about 1968-69.
It had a Keith Black 409 Chevy in it, but was totaled in a towing accident around 1970.

Perhaps you should let the authorities know about your experience with the accused. Your story could help their case.

That was a buddy of ours that it happened to. He has a ton of money/time into that engine and car. Long story short, thieves knew what they were targeting, what they took and when to do it. Fortunately these idiots didn't know that engine/trans combo is not your run of the mill power train. When it was put up "for sale" it raised red flags all over the place. Im glad my buddy got his stuff back and they caught these idiots. I hate thieves.

  19. Ya know it is a ways from Austin that 8thgradegenius lost his '34 but it would be nice if it showed up or even some of the pieces of it in that bunch of parts.

Let me see if I can find a link to it and maybe someone could take a gander for him.

    Lux Blue,
Here is a description, stolen in Ft Worth.

This morning, before I took a painkiller, I snapped to the fact that it had this garish aqua blue duct tape over the plug holes and exhaust ports. I know that tape. It has been a trademark of Austin Performance Plus for a couple of years now. So I called Bill VonQuintus and asked about the motor and he said it had been located (along with a mountian of tools and equipment.) it sounds like everything is back except one welder and a small amount of hand tools.
Since this guy walked into my shop and actively tried to sell me stolen property, I have agreed to meet with detectives and do a photo line up. I also have his phone number and a partial lisence plate number. From what I understand, all they have this guy on is possesion of stolen property, so there is that...

But by far, the most disturbing part of the whole deal is this. This guy was wearing a shop shirt. Meaning he is a mechanic. Probably a parts runner. And he was in my shop.

I have a great alarm, over a million in insurance, and my shop is in a good location. None of that matters when the theif knows exactly where, what and how to steal your gear.

And there are at least 3 members of this ring. Which means 8 more we don't know about.

Nail your doors shut, boys and girls, it is getting nasty out there.
