Wow, what a great weekend with friends, family and some of the koolest cars anywhere! Thanks to Ryan and everyone involved in making this event such fun every year. The H.A.M.B. Drags weekend is one of the rare weekends that I get to hang out with my family at an event. About 3 times a year this happens out of the 30 or so events I get to, it's always special to hang at these events with my old man. Friday morning my Dad, our friends Larry & Frank all loaded up and went over to Springfield for the swap meet to see if the was anything that we couldn't live without. There were a few in the car corral that wanted to go home with me, if only I had the cash... This Lincoln Capri had me dreaming up a slightly different take on the traditional Merc sleds. All four of us stopped an checked out this Olds, I was pretty sure walking away that one of the 3 of the others would make an offer, but sadly no such excitement was in the cards. For that price I'm hoping these are the real deal? My friend Cory has recently taken over running RJay's Speed Shop (an Alliance Vendor here, look him up for some discounts www.rjays.com) That's a lotta chop! In the end besides some corn dogs and some root beer only my Dad walked out with something, actually him and I both carried one of his new headers for one of his projects. Back at the hotels, the parking lots had filled in the hours since we left. Since the cars were there and my camera was charged up, it was time to walk around and see who'd shown up! Ryno's Unibody, wonder when he's going to lower it? (Build thread here) Forced induction, the natural way. Big Ken's truck is too kool Continental Kid Every car should be... That's it for post 1, 20 pics per post limit, more coming soon! Click on any of them to see the whole gallery, there are over 300 photos total in the gallery! See you at a show, Travis
Part 2! Still at the hotel on Friday, still cruising the lot looking at all of the rides! Butch M was back with his beautiful 56, something's not right in his motor, damn shame, it's too great a ride to not see it making full pulls! Very cool to see this family team with granddaughter driving one ride and grandpa behind the wheel of the other. Couldn't have said it better myself... I was impressed with the number of FED's at the event this year, maybe it's right on from other years, but it seemed like there were more and that's fine by me. StrayKatKustoms and Krobe rolling in. I may be wrong but that's a damn cool sight no? Malcolm (Nick), dude you amaze me. Car after cool car, and you are willing to drive them like they should be driven, I'm looking forward to seeing the car all finished. Had a great time hanging out with you hooligans this weekend! (build thread here) I'm used to seeing this ride at the Tulsa Starbird Show, so cool to see it out and about. Seriously, fire it up again, the smell of race fuel was having a nice effect on me... If you're going to cruise, you might as well do it in style. Lil Honker I fell in love with this beauty at the Tulsa Starbird Show this year. TwoTallOkie taking a shot of the better looking of the two of us... Ryno's roof sparkling, drawing in spectators from far and wide Pushrod rocked the parking lot with a killer long set! Thanks boys for kicking butt and getting the crowd going! Okay that's it for part 2, all of the low resolution drawings are uploaded, the high res ones are going up now. If you see one that you'd like to have, please consider buying a digital download or a print, every photo sale helps put gas in the car to get to another show to provide more coverage to everyone! More to come, see you at a show, Travis
