I'm so glad they were mechanical puppets, and not the less traditional hydraulic.

I had a 62 Dart 2 dr post years ago, people would say, man, that's an ugly car, then I'd say, yeah, so ugly it's beautiful. And it was. I like ugly. To a point. Not including women.

That thing is cool! It`s a special kind of cool, but I would love to have it! I think you should re-post this and put on it, "CAPTION CONTEST" and see what people can come up with.

And I seriously dig the truck with the mohawk! I'd be making an RV out of that beast!

The cab looks like it has a White grille.

    "THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TRUCK...

    ...To advertise Levi Overalls.
This 1938 International Harvester was sent to the 1939 International Exposition on Treasure Island, SF. It was after all...100% Mechanical.

This sat in pieces down near Red Ravine Canal in Placer County, Ca. before being rescued by Vince Martinico of Auburn. Vince is longtime pals with the dudes of American Pickers and restores vintage trailers and motorcycles. He also owns the old gas station property where this sits."

I don't think they are the same trucks. The blue one has a steel painted grille that is flush with the surface and the LEVIS truck has a chrome or stainless one that is recessed. I doubt there were enough extra grilles for these lying around that someone got to choose to swap the one for another.

MOPARS? Everyone knows nothing touches a Mopar on the street or track. Put a 440 against any similarly built and sized Ford or Chevy and there's no contest.

Fascinating. The article said Levi's had $50k build cost back then. 1940's dollars would be $800,000 in today's dollars. I hope it get's preserved as a piece of history.
