    I always wondered WTF that was, another educational day on the HAMB

  3. The Real story;
    During a ZZ Top tour in Africa, Billy was introduced to a chief of Cameroon's Bamileke tribe. At the time, Billy was wearing a ten gallon Stetson, but it seems the chief wanted that Stetson very much. Billy was urged to promptly give his Stetson to the chief. However, Gibbons had them let the chief know that back in Texas there is a custom of "horse tradin'". The chief was more than happy to respond by presenting Billy with his own hat that we are so used to seeing Billy with today. They are known as a Bamileke Nudu Beanie

  4. I just heard a story about him this week out at Bonneville. Chick, an inspector for the SCTA and a very fine striper has met him, been to his house in Beverly Hills and striped a Guitar for him. Says he is an A-one class act.

    The "artichoke" is something very special to him from what I hear and he wears it with pride. Given to him by an African Chief.

    Well except for the valve covers and the intake. :rolleyes:

    I blazed him out in my T. We were rock'n to some "lil Joe y La Familia". Took him back old school when he used to play tejano.

    I don't know Billy, but I met Wynonna Judd in a bar. She was not very nice to me...and I don't think all those beers I drank had anything to do with it either.

  16. Oh come on now!

    You guys are acting like little tiny-boppers seeing the Beatles for the first time!

    Give me a break, guys like Billy Gibbons or Jesse James are no different than you or I, but you guys get all giddy. They're just human beings, no more... no less!

    I mean shit, it's not like we were talking about Gene Winfield or Bo Huff!

    This picture shows a very young Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard in a photo for a Texas prom roundabout 1970 or 1971. Allegedly, the unbearded Billy is holding his "Pearly Gates" 1959 Les Paul (Gibson's replicas of Pearly Gates sold for $25K). This is the earliest known picture of the band in its current lineup, and one of the last of Reverend Billy without a beard and sunglasses.

    I've met Billy a few times at the LA Roadster Show.......nice fellow who didn't know me at all but chatted with me a bit and I didn't want to infringe on his time so we both moved on.....but not before he gave me the two finger salute......

    I don't really know him, but he called me at home once. My wife didn't believe me, till we went to a show as his guest and hung with him for a while.
