I saw Marvin drive the roadster at Eldora at the 1st USAC Sprint car race on April 22,1962...Stan Bowman won the race.It was a good looking car...

Final testing of the naked Johnston-Carbone-Wendt XXO/VOT Indy roadster before its trip to Bonneville. As usual, waiting for the painter to finish up the bodywork.......

8. Supermods are the natural evolution of 1960's Indy Roadsters...so in a way, not too modern at all!!
Thanks for sharing....going to watch Supers at Flat Rock Speedway next weekend in fact.

9. Hope to see your Roadster on the Salt next week in person. Looks pretty neat.

My old friend Harold Johansen is having last minute tweeks with his twin cam four valve A ford roadster, i hope he also has some luck and gets there as well ,Look foward to your results ,Speedie.

It is getting towards the latter part of the racing season, so is there going to be a Jungle Park reunion/car show this year?

While at Nostalgia Night at the Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, NY, last night, I was told of the change for the Hinchliffe show. Looks like it might well be Sunday, October 7th - but don't hold me to that - yet!

"Those of you interested in a reunion at Jungle Park on October 13, 2012, please
say so.

My brother and I had already committed ourselves elsewhere when notified by the
new owner so the customary last Saturday in September was out for us. I
suggested to the Jungle Park owner that we might find interest if another date
would fit his schedule. He chose Oct. 13, 2012, the first Saturday of the
Covered Bridge Festival, as that date.

We left it that I would contact several previous participants and he would think
over whether he can support us. We are to review our positions with each other
this week and make the decision. We need your participation.

We also have his commitment for a full-fledged Jungle Park Reunion in 2013.

Make your feelings known. The cars and the knowledgeable people are what makes
the event unique and so much fun.

Post your position about a Reunion on October 13, 2012 here on Racing History.

Thanks,

Tom Williams
Temperance, MI"

I was not at the dyno run. Maybe Josh can fill us in on the numbers as he works at the shop where the engine was assembled.
I suspect the 270 "thumper" is around 400 HP at about 5600 RPM.

More details on this "racing history site" please? Wish someone would have posted this on here. I missed going there last year and would bring a race car for display.

He is referring to the Yahoo Racing History Group. It is a wealth of info and stories. It is run in a very different way than this site. It is more a traditional message board. (pun intended)

No one hiding behind screen names. In fact, if you do not include your full name and city you will get reprimanded for not following the "Len Sutton Rule."

You will notice there is a lot of crossover of guys from here and other vintage racing sites.

A request from an old (younger than I) friend....

Here is a picture of my sprint car when I picked it up in 1984. It's from the east coast and I has a list of the original "main team" members.

I am trying to locate more information on the car. The seller was going to send me info but didn't and I can't locate him. I do have a phone number only from 1987 but it's no longer active. No idea when it was built.

I've attached pictures of the original car, the team member names and what it looks like now.

Please call the owner if you can help, or post info here.

Having trouble with the two original photos, let me know if i need to try to get them bigger please.
