    Death Awaits…
One soldier said in regard to the above card, "These were put on every dead Viet Cong to send ‘Charlie’ a message that US soldiers had been there. The top line reads: "Death awaits Viet Cong cadres." The second line reads: "Return [to the south Vietnamese side] rather than being killed." These seem to be the most prevalent type of death cards, one might almost say "the standard" death card."

In the mid 50s to early 60s The stock muffler to use was a large truck chevy muffler.. Some times called dump truck muffler. This was stock and had a good sound and the cops would have to leave you alone.. Later I got the thrush muffs and installed them on everything.

I remember this old guy who lived near the gas station I worked at during high school. He was a real weird guy, kind of nerdy, just real odd. His kids around my age were even weirder. Don't remember what he drove but it was nothing special, maybe an AMC wagon or something like that. Then one day he showed up ina 57 looking about like that one in the photo. The thing had a 4 gear, straight axle, flip front, and leopard skin interior. Don't remember if it was a big or small block but I'll never forget that interior. It was something I never expected out of the guy, for sure. I have always wondered where that car went. It was on the South side of Huntington, WV

I like it too falcongeorge, but now I'm thinking it may be more of a later '60s build, than a '70s rod.

I'm guessing that's close to 10%, That would put the front spark plug 11.5" behind the axle centerline.
But if we're thinking "Gasser", the 5" chop makes it illegal for NHRA competition.
Here's my project with 5% (6") setback. The firewall had to be reworked for that much.
I've seen 55 gassers that had the firewall even with the gauge panel in the dash.

I'm tired of today. I'm going back to the seventies. Not gunna wear a seatbelt or a helmet, gunna smoke lots of mexican rag weed, stare at my Farrah poster, drink lots of Miller High Life, wear my wafflestompers, and fry tires! And get OFF with a warning. What? Oh. Damn alarm clock!

I drove an o/t 67 Ranchero in high school with a warmed over 289 that had a cam with tight lobe centers, nice lope. When I bought it had duals with warn out sonic turbos and dumps tight before the rear axle. I used to idle through the parking lot and set off car alarms everyday after class. I thought I was hot shit then.
