Their business was off about 40% three years in a row.....they just could not make it work anymore. Pretty sad. They had some fun events, but the food just did not draw in the crowds.

Might be a story here at that! (bet we'll read something from some of our more 'imaginitive' posters)

Good service is key to keep a place like that open. The food was tolerable but the few time I stopped in I felt like I was having dinner at my ex-wife’s! I called the manager one morning and suggested they go eat at the restaurant down the road and see what good fast friendly service felt like! Several of my hot rod friends had the same experience so we checked that stop off the list! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

  11. Stop at the Redhorse in Ellensburg to or from. It's not bad.

Redhorse is where its at. Or the Tav in Ellensburg is also pretty rad.

Stopped at the Hot Rod Cafe once or twice. Never really impressed me. As others have said, the service was definitely lacking. Not surprised that they closed up shop. Cool place/atmosphere but the service killed it for me.

  13. Unrelated and I know it was almost 30 years ago but is there still a floating restaraunt where the river flows into Lake Cour de lain? The subject came up yesterday. It was the first place I ever ate Salmon.

Yea cedars (the floating restaurant) is still there. Too classy for me though ;) . I'm about 90% sure the owners of the hotrod opened up a new restaurant here in cda. Its a bistro and not hotrod related at all though. Right by the long ear where the sandwich shop used to be.

  15. Yeah, it's called Cedars. Wolf Lodge just East of CDA is also awesome!

  16. Cool, thanks!

  17. I'll be in the Coeur D'Alene area in mid September for a week. Let me know if there is any good stuff to check out in the area.
