Time to start a build thread on my newly purchased zephyr.
Its a 1937 coupe roof. Its in need of quite a bit of work, but its a dream of mine to own one so I'm enjoying every minute.

I have repaired the rear cross member. Have cut out the remaining parts of the floors, and removed one rocker today and cleared up the outriggers on one side of the chassis. Also started getting the A pillar ready to fabricate new panels.

I will keep updating as progress continues.

Here's some pics of how I got it and some of the work I have done over the past week.

Me too. Was that car submerged under muck or something? Quite a project, but she'll be gorgeous when done, I'm sure!

I have always admired the ability of The English to take on serious projects that others would be terrified of. The 37 zepher is at the top of my dream list and I'm sure that if you went to the effort of bringing this car half way around the world you will have no problem seeing it through. I can't wait to see it finished as a proper classic.

I regretted selling that coupe top and doors since the day it left my yard. I've come across some really clean sedans since then. Finding another Zephyr coupe top and doors will probibly never happen again. Good luck with your project. Get ahold of Merv Adkins in Pamona Ca. if you have a hard time finding parts. He's got a little of everything for the 37. Boos and Harrell and pretty good parts suppliers as well. Can't wait to see what it becomes.

I'm looking forward to watching your progress. I have a 40 zephyr, mines fairly solid but its a 4 door. I'm going to cut it up and make it into a 2 door with a Carson top. So I have a lot of work a head of me too.

Bit more progress today. It took all day but I managed to get one rocker pretty much made up and the second one half prepped.

There's more curves in there than a little. It curves with the contour of the body when looking from above and also curves up from the rear to the front A pillar. This also acts as the door gap so had to be pretty tidy.

It still needs some tidying and has to have the floor panel mounted under it before I can weld the two together to form a box section but you should get the general idea from the pics.

Was an enjoyable day in the shop today, just chilled out working at my leisure and trying to suss out how to best tackle the job with the tools I have.

Wow, its rough, but its a Zephyr. It certainly looks like you are going down the right path saving this car. I for one can't wait to see more...

  24. There are some cars that are just worth the effort and this is certainly one of them.

Don't let mother nature win this fight, you are gonna have a beauty when all is said and done.

Time for an update on the progress. Didn't touch it last weekend as I was working on the house. Then just when I got started again during the evenings my welder decided that 14 years of hard use was enough. So one new welder later and a large hole in the bank balance and I was good to go again.
Spent most of the week cleaning up the old rocker on the passenger side and fabricating as much as possible so I could crack on with the welder this weekend.
At close of play tonight and with the help of Bev the bead roller (my dear wife) I have floor pans :), both rockers welded in and the rear of the roof welded onto the body. It's looking pretty good now and is a whole load stronger.

    Heres some pics.
