Well...it's been a long time coming...finally got the base color on our 1964 Falcon Convertible. Spent the last year fine tuning the body. It's wet sanded and ready for clear....hopefully this Sunday....
The car was painted red when we got it....I like red cars, but there are way too many red Falcons out there. The car was originally silver...too plain for me. Was watching an episode of OverHaulin a few years ago and they did a mid 60's T-Bird in a medium green metallic that I fell in Love with. Tried contacting Chip Foose's shop and Lanzini's who painted it several times with no reply..go figure. Anyway....I spotted the Van-Go Econoline that Church has here on the HAMP...said to myself...that green looks like the shade of green I've been looking for. So I PM'd Church to find out the color...2008 Honda Green Tea Metallic. Thank You Church!
That color is amazing on a car with so many different body lines and facets! I think you have a winner there!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow the color really shows off those great Falcon lines. Hope you let us watch as you put her back together. OK that sounds wrong.
Sorry for not updating in awhile...work and family kept me busy th epast couple of months. Here is a shot of a test we did on one of the quarter panels. Wet sanded it in stages from 600 > 800 > 1000 > 1500 > 2000 > 3000 grit. Then machine buffed it. It's like glass!
Nice look there, I noticed you tape the floor off in the booth, I'd say that would make it much cleaner but I rinse mine down, what's the reason? thanks
We were rinsing the floor. The day we shot the clear, the owner of the body shop came in earlier and masked the floor off. I prefer wetting the floor. After a couple of go rounds, the paper started ripping and making a mess!
