I know I will get beat up over this but you guy have 50s cars with white letter tires on them. I want to see how they look Thanks:)

  2. White letter tires didn't come along during the 50's,,as I recall the later 60's.

Never though too much about advertising tires I had to pay for,,JMHO! HRP

The only reason white letters should be on a 50's car is just to drive it to the tires shop to get some proper white (or black) walls put on. White letters belong in the trash. (IMO)

This guy thinks they look good:

Here is one I just saw on an auction board.

My first thought was, "Cool car!"

My second thought was, "Hey, those tires and wheels don't look too bad on there for something different."

My third thought was, "If I bought that, I would have to change the tires and wheels!"

In the late fifties it was Atlas Bucron's on the rear.

The right ones can look very cool...just picture these on a '33-34 coupe or any other early Ford.

  14. I was going to say that some race cars had them and they got paid to run them.

Hey I like flush handles, I flush them every chance I get. That puts them right down there with those politicians that I give birth to everyday.

Ha, you guys beat me to the punch. The race cars had em in the mid fifties, but a nice sled still had whitewalls, whether it was factory new or a custom.

here ya go. The rear tires are being replaced...they're kind of old and rotted. But you get the idea

I like 'em on some cars.. but I grew up in the late 60's 70's so that accounts for my taste. The vintage white letters on those race cars would be neat on a fenderless race styled car, but otherwise, leave them for the Vette's and Chargers.

I was never much of a fan for the raised white lettering deal, or any of the other 60's tire trim fads, like red or gold lines, multiple narrow ww, etc. on performance / muscle cars, and I think they'd look totally out of place on most 50's cars. Gary
