    Ryan,

I just wanted to say thanks for 10 great years. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since I got the nerve up, stopped being a lurker, and joined this “little” community. I’ll never forget that first week. After some good natured hazing by SamIyam, Nads, and Fatassbuick, I was in. Luckily TrailerEd, aka Traileredcarssuck joined up at the same time and diverted a lot of the flak with his intro. Ironically T-Ed was one of the first HAMBers I would meet in person and is still a friend.

In these 10 years I’ve met a lot of other great folks, learned a lot, bought and sold some cool parts, and been to some new places I never would have went without it. Everyone needs to experience the Drags at least once. Lucky for me I’m fairly close and have made more than I’ve missed. I do miss the intimacy of the earlier years and hanging out at the Ramada….even in a downpour standing under the awning, it was a blast. But the new larger scale Drags is still a must attend.

People joining today just don’t realize how much the HAMB has changed. The blazing speed at which new posts are created. The talent (and lack of) that grace the screen. And of course the differences in opinions that come with it all. I’ve heard it said before that it used to be like visiting a friend’s small garage with just a few buddies, checking out a couple of cars. That’s a good analogy. Now it’s more like going to an event, seeing dozens of friends, and there being more cars then you have time to look at. Both ways are good. The hardest part is to imagine what my life and the current hot rod scene would be like without the HAMB. Probably not near as much fun.

I've only been here for a few years now.. Just went to the Round Up for the first time this past April but I'll be making my way out to more "HAMB-orientated" events as the time goes by. I look towards to meeting more HAMBers as well!

Still, Ryan's done a tremendous job with this not-so-little community. Thanks, Ryan.

  3. Love this place. Have learned a lot about traditional styled cars and have made some new friends and met tons of great people. Thanks!

In the beginning, I don't think anybody would have guessed we would all still be here in 10 years....

It is a whole diffrent world for sure, but I have to say as much as it is natural to long for the good old days, the recent HAMB is way more better.

    Congratulations. -Abone.

Hi Corn Fed, only been here a few days or so. Didn't plan on spendin much time. But it's already addictive and there is so much good old car information it's hard to leave. I can see why you are here.
Got a question. Is Porkys drive-in still there? Used to drive the silver-blue 55 Chevy, the 55 red wagon, or orange 77 Vette over from Pekin, Ill and stay for weekends and cruise. Remember filling their lot and every place close. Also some car shows and the Threasherman's reunion at fairground.
    Always got lost tryin to get out of town. <TABLE id=post7791744 class=tborder border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center><TBODY><TR><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #e5e5e5 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #e5e5e5 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #e5e5e5 1px solid; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; BORDER-RIGHT: #e5e5e5 0px solid" class=thead><!-- status icon and date -->[IMG] Today, 05:23 PM <!-- / status icon and date --></TD><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #e5e5e5 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #e5e5e5 0px solid; BORDER-TOP: #e5e5e5 1px solid; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; BORDER-RIGHT: #e5e5e5 1px solid" class=thead align=right>#1 </TD></TR><TR vAlign=top><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #e5e5e5 0px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #e5e5e5 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #e5e5e5 0px solid; BORDER-RIGHT: #e5e5e5 1px solid" class=alt2 width=175>Corn Fed<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_7791744", true); </SCRIPT>

Uh oh... Another immensely successful website. I wonder how long before eBay puts in an offer on the H.A.M.B. and then charges us to post... LOL. Thanks for being there, H.A.M.B.! World-class hotrodders and some damn fine people, too.

It's scary, but I have known a lot of hambers longer than the people I went all 12 years of school with. Not sure how long I have been on here, most of my adult life I think.

I've been fortunate that I'm a member for 5+ years. Congrats, Ryan.

On a side note... I wonder how many guys/gals were RR's when they came here and then "converted". And what's with lurking until you got the courage to speak up?

I've been here for 8 years Corn Fed was one of the first guys I ever got a part from, a chunk of an original 30-31 Ford firewall I needed to fix the one on my '30 Roadster. I like to look at that project and remember the people that helped supply the parts. Following all the other builds here never gets old. The shared knowledge on the HAMB is amazing. Thanks again! Bob:)

Yep, great, great website, no doubt one of the best, but how long can it last? Yeah, Ryan, it's your passion and you've done something that has never been done to this level, forum wise, and we are all greatful. But........................ you have a growing family and there will be a time when the numbers on the paper will be to big to pass on. I sure as hell won't blame 'ya, man................. just my two cents, feel free to toss 'em out the window.

A little under 10 years for me. HAMB got me through the "adjustment" period of retirement, a false bout with Thyroid cancer and a very real & scary bout with throat cancer. In my most miserable days I found pleasure in reading the threads on HAMB. Kind of like bench racing and hanging out in the shop when I wasn't able.

Thanks, Ryan - I don't think how many people's lives you've affected in a positive way!

I am a relative newcomer compared to some ('bout three years. I lurked for a while too) but I love this place- its my favorite forum. Like to read the Jalopy Journal regularly so thanks Ryan.

for the last few years i've been thinking we're only one more stupid "_____truck on an S10 chassis" thread away from Ryan pulling the plug and disappearing into the woodwork. thanks for everything Ryan. may your patience continue so my reward lasts.

The same goes for me. I started collecting parts for one of those "r**r**" then I stumbled across this site and I was saved. Now I have a 29 A truck and im about to start my build on a traditional T. Thanks Ryan and all the Hambers that have help just by posting their tech info and pictures.

  26. I agree, you and I have been on here for 12 years. I was 30.

  27. Not quite sure when I finally posted but it was around 12 years ago. I was pretty shy for a while. I always knew my fellow Hambers had my back and I had theirs.

Thanks Ryan for giving us hot rod hoodlums a place to hang out.

  28. Hey Ryan,
Just stumbled across this thread I'd not seen before. Shows the enormity of this place as I check in several times a day. THANK YOU SO MUCH for pouring your life force into such a worthy cause. Not only for guidance and info. but just like petting your dog drops one's blood pressure, hobbies do the same in firing off all those endorphins that help heal and relax. Truly a detachment from the days problems which are heartbreaking for some. On any level from a lurking shut-in to a seasoned pro doing a build thread, this place is a Godsend more than you may realize. 2 pages of thank yous ain't enough, Bro! See you in Joplin for proper HAMB celebrating.

I have to say that this site/forum keeps me going through the day. If the uppercrust here at work take it away I'll be screw'd. I may not comment alot or post constantly but it's my crack. What I like to compare it to is like being invited every day to a party that you can hang out with a beer, feel comfortable and go barefoot or listen and join in the conversations. Everything here is what is right about life and cars. A fellow person runs into some issues whether automotive related or life related and people come to their aide. Thanks Ryan for my 6 years.
