Stude taillights look great on '40s particularly. I suspect that Valley Custom must have used 80% of all the Stude taillights that were available in junkyards during the '50s!

Those have to be on the top of ugliest taillight treatment I have come across on a shoebox. customizing should enhance a look not ruin the flow with something that doesn't ft the shape. Triangle shape in a oval hole it just doesn't work.

  4. Yep . . . would make Herman Munster proud! I think the ugliest lights and mounting position I've ever seen.

Thank God my Merc is a 40!

(i didn't reshow most of the pix in order to save bandwidth) i'm trying to imagine these stockers laid horizontal in something else besides the mopars that they came in. photoshop anyone???

and the treatment on the last green car is drop dead gorgeous. my compliments to whoever had the idea and to whoever performed the work.

As there's a few bike lights here, here's what i knocked up for a mates Street Tracker. Based on a repro miller light unit, i fabbed the mount to fix it on the rear fender

If the pictures in the quote are on the same page as the original post it won't affect the bandwidth at all.

Nice idea! I would like to see them molded horizontal into something like a 59 impala or something..

That's a great idea, but instead of a Chev how about a 1960 Olds?

Looking for something interesting for my RPU, & found these "tombstone" tail lights... originally were Harley equipment, lots of aftermarket right now... but to me, they just scream "hot rod"... anyone ever used them ??? ( sorry if they are listed in this thread... I actually went through over 1/2 of it  )

this 1st one is larger than normal, at 4.5" X 7"

these are kinda cool with the chevrons

    this one is "vintage"

I saw the Harley Tombstones on a Model A sedan several years ago, and thought they looked great. I would guess that they were the vintage style.

    Check out post # 428

    Matt is The Man!
We all know it's the application as well as the tail light and these are just fantastic.
My tail lights are boring, most are. Some of the customs are cool, but a lot are overdone.
I thought, am I really going to look at 30 pages of tail lights? Yours made it worth it.

  27. I hate "wasting" time but, I just spent 45 minutes going through all these pages, to confirm that the 'tombstones' I'm using on my '40 LaSalle were the right ones........
    I love threads with pictures.....:)

  29. I'm just now 'brain f-ing" everything that will happen soon.I get tons of ideas on here so that when I do get off my ass and get started I'll have some direction.
all I know is the stock tail lights are going, she's getting the driveline out of my other toy (350/350 combo) then playin' by ear for the rest.
