I have some new posts on my blog. If you would like to read about Candy Clark having an old tire collection as a kid or want to read about Bob Smith and the names he used before he became the Wolfman check it out

As for buying/renting cars: I used to talk to this old sprint car guy (Riley Collins) who had built a copy of the California Kid car except it said Chevy Kid on the roof. He told me there was a call for cars for the cruising scenes and his car can be seen in the first one.

I once watched a talk show where Suzanne Sommers was on the show and she talked about how picky the owner was about the car. Towards the end of the show they took her out to the parking lot and reunited her with the T-bird. Same person still owned the car. Owner told the story of coming out of a store after shopping and finding a note on the car saying if they would like to have the car used in a movie to call.

So how come nobodyelse has seen or mentioned that when the Falfas 55 is upside down there appears to be wrench sitting on the frame driver side you have to look for it. Do you see it? Am i seeing it?

  8. i dont know about a wrench but i think the car was manually placed in its final resting place so its possible someone left something on it

Who is directly behind Candy Clark in this photo? What was her role? She looks familiar, but I can't place her. Maybe she was Laurie's friend?!?!

I had one of those styrofoam cups, but mine turned out to be a replica.

I've loved this car for decades, and started to build my own 'copy' a few years ago, but we emigrated and it was sold before it hit the road. A very sad day indeed. There were tears in my eyes when it was trailered away.

Cool site and there is still definitely a cult following of the movie and the coupe even after all these years... I remember reading in Hot Rod or somewhere many, many years ago that the coupe had been "found" in a prop warehouse and sold for $1,500.00! Don't know if that's truth or myth but I've never forgotten it!

The story about the car being sold to a guy in japan is false. That car was a clone and it had a 307 chevy in it. I think i recall reading about it in an old issue of American Rodder. :) I also met Paul Le Mat and Candy Clark a few years ago at Back To The 50's and have an 8x10 glossy autographed by Pat Le Mat himself.
