Yup...Danny, I was 22 when the movie came out in 1973.....I was dating "an older woman"...she was 24...

  7. I was only one year older than you,,we had driven down to Columbia to visit a friend and he suggested we go see this new hot rod movie,,I said sure,,and at the time I thought it was the coolest movie I had ever seen,,especially when we went outside and found several people around my little pickup.

If I wasn't already into hot rods I would have been looking for one the very next day. HRP

Wow, so many cultural icons are really getting up there in years. No wonder it seems so many have been dieing off lately. But as Hotrodprimer stated---most of us aren't too far behind.

Even at 93, my old buddy Lee would say, "It goes too fast!".

    jcmarz, that's Bob Falfa...not "Alfalfa"...that was Spanky's pal.

  17. I saw it, my first movie in my PJs, my folks took me. I am 43 this fall.

  18. The club I was in back then all went to the local drive in with our hot rods to see the move the week it came out. Hot rods and popcorn at a hot rod movie. Great way to spend a saturday night. I was 28.

"I'm Kinda embarrased driving this close to you, What is that, A cross between Puke Yellow and Piss Green? "

I musta been 11yrs old and saw this movie at the Edward's Monterey Park on Garfield, just south of Hellman and the 10fwy.

  23. I was 11 the first time (when it was on at the movies) and 18 the second time, when I saw the movie. Tried to live the movie in real life in my early 20's, whilst owning a couple of Chev's, '56 and '57. Bought the video and then the DVD. A friend played it for my 48th a few years back on a large screen telly. I never die of this movie..... never will as it's a benchmark to what many of us believe in. When life was simpler and there was a different perspective....

I was 14 when we went to the drive-in to see it, skyvue drive-in Torrington, ct. We always took "the wagon" 1969 Chevy Kingswood estate wagon with the 390 HP 427 motor.

I'm 53 now with grand children, it was just yesterday....................

I think I saw it the first time in 1974 or so. I dont think it got to New Zealand in 1973.

Cant remember how many times i have seen it since, but had the double album sound track at one time, have the DVD now and found the soundtrack CD in a music shop a couple of years ago.

    Happy birthday Mr Falfa.

Ol' Harrison will be at Oshkosh in a few weeks for the big EAA Airventure week long exhibition. He became a pilot after the movie 6 Days & 7 nights, and has been really into aviation, and doing good things for it, since.
