Interesting. Love the looks, but the other reason I (think) I like the idea of using them is that they probably have much better visibilty off-axis and would be brighter even with automotive bulbs. But I gather you don't use the Cessna fixture or reflector? Gary

 

I like the late 30's Mopar lenses. I've got them on my Hupmobile and on my 51 ford woodie. I also have a pair from an Airflow which I plan to use3 on a 31 model A coupe.

 

I'd very much like to see the whole car!!

Thanx again Jeff, but before you trouble yourself with the pixs, I've been searching for this kind of stuff and while I only found one unit similar to yours (a Whelen product) new units are insanely expensive. Of course they are FAA / MIL spec and have to endure all kinds of temp extremes, so that is why. I'm thinking the best I might do now is get some lenses like you have and go the repop tear drop route, too. Gary

 

My plan is to install early 356 beehive tail lights on my '50s European themed '32 roadster build.

 

My 54. Just clean and cheap.

 

Bobby, are there matching repop fixtures for 356s available for these lenses, or do these beehive items fit popular round hot rod tail lights? Gary

Sorry, just saw your question. They do reproduce the entire assembly, but the lens might very well fit other housings, which might be a cool way to go...and hopefully cheaper. The lenses are $35 each, complete assemblies $75 each, so quite a difference considering that I'll need four of them. Sometimes my wallet questions the wisdom of this whole European theme plan I have...

This 51 Ford had 73 Caddy tail lights... cool? wierd? different? YES! hahaha

 

A friend of mine who's into stock Studes, also has one of these on his '39 Express up here in NY. It swings back & forth when activated, by engine vacuum. Oddest factory accessory I think I've ever seen, but then again, it was from Studebaker!

 

58 Buick Parking Lamps


When I saw these at a yard sale I immediately saw them on my Tudor.....then I got to mulling it over and...well, the jury is still out. Considering the pitting and the large size...I'd guess painting them the color of the car would be the way to go.

 

Heres mine. Does anybody know what they came off of?

 

Kick ass front end! I don't if it's already been suggested, but by the looks of that grille I would name this car "The Joker"...very cool.

 

My 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe tail lights. They were called "tower" tail lights. Really a beautiful design in my opinion.
