I just inherited a 1962 Dart 330 with a 413 and 2 fours, but missing the original cross ram intake. My wifes uncle had is as long as she can remember and a few years ago her Dad bought it when the uncle needed cash. Any thoughts about it? The wheels have to go (centerlines) but we haven't decided what to do about the paint. Would like to run it at the drags at Mokan. I will post pics when I get them off of phone and on to computer.

'62 was first year for the Max Wedge ("413 Super Stock") and had the " short runner" cross RAM wither Carter AFB's facing each other. Most were 410 HP with 11.1 compression and very few had 420 HP 13.5:1 combo. Although considered ugly by most, they were very fast and beat the pants off most 409 cars. They were very light for the time, 33-3400 lbs. ish. It took a lot of aluminum/ fiberglass to get an Impala or Galaxie that light. Slicks and headers would put them in the twelves easy, and a little driving/tuning talent in the low 12's. A current NHRA stocker version of one of these cars with all the "tricks" will run low 10's-high 9's @130+ on 9" slicks. Most either love or hate the body style, I think there cool, got one in my garage with the two 4barrel 383 combo and a 3 spd Jerico Manual trans.
in '62 for Dodges and Chryslers, but for some reason not Plymouths. There were three motors that used 2x4's inline. 1-383 343 hp. 11.0-1 comp. solid cam. 2-413 385 hp. 11.0-1 comp. hyd. cam. 3-413 394 hp. 11.0-1 comp. solid cam. I have a road test article of a 62 Dart 413 with inline fours. It was a 413 but not a max wedge just the basic 413 with inline dual fours. I also have the Motor Trend article of the 62 Dart Max Wedge 410 hp 413. It ran 13.44 @ 109 bone stock. I also have a Hot Rod road test of a 63 Maxie 426 with 415 hp and it ran 12.60's with just cheater slicks. Here is a very nice 62 Dart 413 pic I took at the track. It even still used the Max Wedge exh manifolds and did not use headers. It ran 11.70's. Ron
Last week, I was able to make a deal to purchase a Bob Mosher racecar, his '62 Dart, The Monrovia Missle #1, from Bob, who never sells his personal cars. It used to be campaigned by Torrance Performance many years ago, and I hope to build a better background on this car once we get it race ready. Maybe a cool match-race??
First car I owned was a 62 Dart 2 dr post, 313 poly, push button auto, worn out beat to shit piece of automotive heaven. Man I loved that car, have never been able to get another one.
Man, those '62 Darts are funny looking but I love 'em. I had one in the 70's with a 383. The car was pretty darned fast. I remember blowing the doors off a boy racer in his brand new Porsche. He got so pissed he pulled out a pistol and shook it at us. Being young and crazy, my friends and I just flipped him the bird and kept going. I'd love to have that car back.
Peav I have seen everyone's but yours but they are a neat body style, I think it will make a slick car for you guys. I may still have some MOPASR parts laying around if you discover there is something that you need let me know if I have it you can pick it up on your way the property up here.
I do love those Darts! My first car was a '67 Dart GT (I know, completely different body style). It had, quite possibly, the smallest V-8 ever produced. The awe-inspiring 273 cubic inch, 2 barrel carb monster motor. Loved that car.

Most of them were white from the factory. Are you going with a period correct 62-63 type build ? Pics will help. If you're not going period correct any paint you like, light blue metallic, light bronze metallic would look nice on them and be something that woud have been factory color.
My brother had a Dart hardtop like that. We put a 354 Hemi in it. One tough car! A cousin had one that we put a 383 auto in it. Cool looking cars! A buddy had a ragtop with a factory tall-deck 383, too. Love 'em!
some of the '62 413 Dodge Darts had the 2 x 4's inline. I really regret selling my '62 Dodge Dart 2 door hardtop wagon with a cross ram 426 Hemi, dammit, why did I do that? now I need it for a tow car for my dragster.
