Event Coverage KKOA Leadsled Spectacular is on the way!

In many ways I am blessed, great people as both friends and family, a good paying job, a house, a dog, a couple of kool cars... the list goes on and on, I'm a lucky guy. Having one of the best kustom and hot rod shows in the world right in my backyard is just another lucky stroke in life. The Kustom Kemps of America Leadsled Spectacular has been held in Salina, KS now for a few years and just keeps growing and growing.

My first photos of the KKOA Leadsled Spectacular were in 2007. At that time the show was held in Salina, KS' Thomas Park. The show fit nicely in the small, mostly shaded park, looking back now I see a lot of cars that are owned by strangers then that are friends now.

Come on, a twin flathead engined dragster? If memory serves correctly he barely got her shut down before the fence at the end of the track.




Roger Ward's car looks as good today as it did then.

Not exactly traditional with this mill but this car was super clean.

I'm still madly in love with this car.



That's some of my favorite shots from 2007's KKOA Leadsled Spectacular, most of these I post because the owners have become very dear friends of mine over the years since. I'm a lucky man.

Thanks! I can certainly see the difference from what I was shooting then to what I do now (most of the time it's better!), I'll do a couple more blog posts tomorrow and I'll copy them here as well.

Thomas park was nice when the show was a lot smaller,shade trees and no curbs to avoid, CRUNCH SCRAPE LOL. but the new park can hold 5 times the cars of Thomas. I noticed the west lower end of Oakdale park has room for overflow of cars.We checked it out ,nice. I bet this year it will be full. Great people and great cars ,good place to meet new friends, I have. travisfromkansas thanks for the photos !

Kool post Travis, It was kool to look back to see how much the show has grown
over the years. Even as hot as it was last year, still had to be one of the koolest
shows of the year.

I put off a couple years going because the heat then I went . I realized what I had been missing. I've gone every year since then. These shows are so informative for us guys who didn't grow up in the time era of customs. The older guys who talked to me and my friends have always been so genuine too. If it weren't for long standing shows like this and you guys helping us we(born after 1970) might be driving freight train bumper era 75 camaros with mis matched wheels and tires and a ultra-hot sticker in the back. Well okay maybe we would not be that bad but this show is great.
