O/T: I hate when brand new things break!!! (CAPTAIN-COMPLAINEY)

Well, got my two new HAMB shirts in the mail about a week ago.

I don't usually buy clothes, but I was in sore need of some new threads!

I got the aviator capped skeleton riding the flatty V-8 and the HAMB 2x4 intake (which was on sale).

After checking 'em out I washed 'em in hot water ('cause they're cotton).
I wore the intake shirt once and the skeleton shirt once.
I noticed a few "loose strings" on the intake shirt (the shirt that was on sale).
Not thinking, I pulled one. Well, it stretched quite a bit and (eventually) broke.

And now my shirt's only got half a hem in it.

I guess it's my fault for pulling the string an not cutting it, but dang, that stuff used to be no big deal.
You'd pull a string, and it'd break.

I guess that's why it was on sale, right?

Everything "consumable" is made oversea's now and stuff's just not made to last anymore.
(BUT IT SHOULD BE)
Like socks, I don't think my socks even last 6 months now. You pull a "sock-string" and it just unravels the whole foot!

And it's just like dang, I guess I'm gonna have to start buying used clothes too.
(Thrift stores sell the only stuff where it says "made in America")

 

Cottons that have any color on them wash cold. They won't fade or shrink. Hot shrinks new cotton and if they are color they'll fade too. No bleach. Dryer set to warm.

Oh.... NEVER pull a thread. Cut it.

 

Damn tfeverfred, I thought I knew way too much about textiles for a straight guy...

 

I've been a bachelor for a while. You learn after the first few trys. If that fails, I call my sisters!

It also helps to read the instructions on the tag.

 

Dont know if it makes ya fell any better but, I saw awhile back Ryan is trying to make the switch to American Made products when possible.. Why not send him a PM and see if he'll hook you up with one of the new ones. It never hurts to ask.

I don't know about those shirts but all of the HAMB shirts I have bought in the past have held up quite well against my wife and her washer and dryer and normally there isn't a shirt or pair of jeans that she can't shrink.

 

Pulling the string is like walking up to some control panel and going, "Hey, I wonder what this button does"
But seriously. What kind of softener do you men prefer, liquid or dryer sheets?

 

Naw. The city paid off, I rebuilt it. I'm going to be tearing the engine down shortly.

That's traditional, just like rolled pant cuffs.

 

Wash 'em on a rock, in the crick out back, hang in a tree to dry, traditional like.

 

It could be worse. Orange drinks at the dollar tree tastes like bamboo.

I had never used a washer & dryer before,,everything went in the was different colors but they didn't come out that way,,,,,I'm still wearing pink socks and drawers! HRP

 

And that is one thing that is wrong in America today. Not imported tee shirts! The fact that everyone has to march their problem out into public! This shouldn't have been an open letter to this forum, it should have been a letter to the merchant.
I firmly believe in giving a business the opportunity to do right first. If you receive no satisfaction then step it up.

I had a boss that wouldn't make a supplier warrantee things. I think that is wrong. How will a product ever improve if the supplier is not made aware of it's shortcomings?

Now either communicate with Ryan or tuck the shirt in.

And check the seam on your scrotum.

When good threads go bad...the shirt AND the direction this is going.

 

two things this thread has shown me.

1) some people will just bitch instead of actually asking the person/company they bought something from. I'm sure a quick PM to Ryan and all this would have been avoided.

2) there are a lot of dudes that are clueless about laundry. Seriously, have you never lived on your own? Did mama always do your laundry?
