300 Bucks to remove an eye sore from the guy.

Seems like a decent trade off.

  5. Great deal !!....I gave $400.00 for my 52 F1 in 1980....best $400.00 I ever spent...I still have the truck today !!

  6. You didn't get hurt on that deal. Looks like a fairly solid old truck. Always liked the F-1 pickups, especially the '48-'50 version.

  7. Those effies can be made to look really super.

They don't really need much visually, other than dropping them down a bit.

I got my 48 in 1985,wasn`t my first choice but it has grown on me since.I neglected it for years at a time but 2years ago I got back on it in earnest. Trying to finish the bright yellow paint but my back and the heat have stiffeled that plan.My back is better and it will cool off at some point.

You just hurt my feelings ...350.....tear.....now look what you did. Just playing, to each his own. If they were all the same then what would everyone have to fuss about?

If you can afford it, keep the flathead. I pulled the Merc flathead out of mine when I got it because I couldn't afford to fix it and selling it got me more money to get the truck going. Like you, I am trying to do this on a budget. :)

PLEEZE keep it the original flathead!!! Everyone and their brother powers their rods with a smalll block. Fuck that!!! I bet if you took a little time you could free up that flathead and make it a runner.

BTW, I'm all of 25 mi from you...GREAT FIND!!! Wish I found it, but I always seem to miss out on the local deals.

i am holding onto the flathead. i chose the conversion bell housing so i don't need to cut the cross member or shorten the driveshaft. i already have the sbc. i figure over time i should be able to tear down that old flathead and rebuild it the proper way.

Yeah, it just went low buck for sure!

Nice truck - they are a hoot! I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but be careful - they multiply... 13 years ago I bought my first and now there are 5 sitting around here - F1 thru F6's

  27. Nice ride, i have a 50' F2 and if all i had to power it was a TOYOTA 22R in it would go because it's my truck!

    Dear OP,

I bought mine about 10 years ago - it was a BARGAIN in Aust for ONLY $3500.....without any engine or box......and I still think I was damn lucky to get it!!!:D

If I'd listened and put a SBC in it, instead of holding out to use my favourite 351C, I'd have been driving it the last 5 years, instead of wiping dust off it in the garage.

"One on the road is worth ten in the garage"

The dude who's DOing it instead of TYPING about it IS the Traditional guy.

    Nice buy, and great attitude!

Congrats,......and thanks for sharing your pix!!!!

    MIJ

  29. I agree, get it going any way you can.....you can always put the flattie back in later.
Cool project, keep the pics coming!
