Thank you, that was a great read. I was surprised at the part about not driving across any airport runways!
I went thru it again, i am impressed at the amount of effort that went into making this booklet/program. If you look it is just for a couple days and it is all about the racers, cars and the event. No adverstisements. People and information is what is inside the covers. Very dedicated people, we can learn from them.
Good read, any idea who originally bought this originally?? Also who had #1 that meet??? they didnt show up....
Hey, thanks for posting something so interesting and historical. I saw that one of the entrys in the D roadster class was a 27T running a Duesenberg 8. No speed listed. Also saw a D streamliner running a DeSoto 6 and one was even running a Jeep with a Jeep motor and listed in the A roadster category.
Unfortunately I don't know who originally owned it. The team of Bob Giovanine and Chuck Spurgin were the #1 car for '49.
I'd like to know about the Stroker member Eugene "Gene" C Hewitt. He ran a 29 roadster pickup with a "Wayne"headed Chev6 in 1949, and the same engine in a 32 roadster in 1950. Anyone in the know?
Thanks Jimmy for posting your scan of the May 1946 SCTA event. My father Jack Karnes is listed in with The Shafts driving a "C" Class Roadster number 787. If anyone has a photo of him or his club please let me know as I would love to see it.
