My friend got this 50 ford f1 from his father inlaw. It was his first truck back in 1972, he used to race it at local strip.

Wow, that must have been a job pulling it out. Great shot of you or your buddy leaning against it with the shovel!

It took a couple hours, but he did get stung a few times. Pretty damn funny, big ol hornets nest in battery tray!

  14. Why did the father in law park it? Broke at the track and never fixed it? Glad it's being saved.

Like that big ole smile you have leaning on the door. Nice F 1. Fix it, drive it, race it. Good luck and have fun with it

That grille guard is worth a shit-ton of money. It was an actual aftermarket accessory (I can't recall the name offhand) and cleaned up, maybe chromed, it is worth many a couple hundred bucks. Doesn't look like it's in bad condition.

We used to see a lot of those Grill guards on early 50's trucks in Texas. I think they were made somewhere in Texas. That one appears to have done it's job in that the grill looks perfect. If you don't use it I would imagine that it is pretty good swap meet material .

Good save. So, what are your plans? On a side note, do you work at Williams?

I'm always surprised to see that someone didn't take the time to just throw a tarp over a car or truck like that to try to save it a little from the elements. We were just watching American Pickers and that one place they went to had all these old VW Buses and they were all just sitting there out in the open for years with no protection. Even the rare 21 window one that the guy "is going to restore when he retires" looks like Mother Nature is going to claim it before he gets around to it.

I have seen cars sitting that I was tempted to offer to cover up with a tarp just because I couldn't stand to see it rotting away the way it was.

    Nice save.

If those front fenders are as nice as they look in the pictures, Mother Nature was really kind to the old girl over the years.
