Iron Invasion - Chicagoland show Oct. 2012

Thanks Torkwrench! It is this kind of dedication that is so cool to see.
Hope everyone comes early and stays late.
If everyone shows up before 9am on Saturday morning I don't think there will be much drama getting everyone in.
Remember that we allow camping on Friday and Saturday night as well.
So if you want to get there on Friday night for the Pre Party - you can just stay on site and be ready to go for the next morn!
And PLEASE dont rush to your car and head home right after the awards....
this will cause traffic issues as well.
I know everyone will dig the grounds.......
and in order to STAY at this location we will need to work together to make sure we can stay there.
We can all work this out together and make this an event that will be something that can keep traditions in the Chicagoland area alive.
In the meantime there are a lot of other shows.....
Road Block is NEXT weekend!
Then The Scrap Drive!!!

 

My wife and I will be there. Her mom lives in the next town over, so it's just another great excuse for us to make the trip down. Looking forward to a great event!

I was able to check out the fairgrounds today. They are BIG, BIG, BIG....Over twice as large as I had remembered.

I have been getting so much grief from people that think this place is the size of a postage stamp.
It is not.
The Walnecks Motorcycle swap gets 10,000 people there.
I HOPE we get that many people - that would be really amazing.....
but realistically we hope to get half that.

About 10 - 15 years ago, there was a well know Chicago area car show and swap meet that was held at these fairgrounds. Whoever put this particular show on always jambed the cars and swappers in REALLY close together. At the time, I just assumed that the fairgrounds were rather small.

However, after recently checking out the fairgrounds again, (and finding out what the exact borders are), it looks like this previous show only used less than 1/4th of the available area. Why did they do this??? I don't know. However the reason that I never went back to this other show was because everything was packed in so tight. Other people must have felt the same way, since this show has not been held in Woodstock for a long time.

I'm really looking forward to The Iron Invasion. I haven't missed any of the Torquefests or Scrap Drives and the Iron Invasion will be another must attend, for me.

 

I was there and agree that it was all packed into one area. Don't know why.

I hope the Iron Invasion and the fairgrounds suit each other just fine.

John has a good plan and it will work out just great.

starter heat soak issue...
maybe a thermostat that opens at a lower temp too..
quelling some of the annoying vibrations in the back..
fixing the headlights..

Again, we must stress the fact that we want only vintage autos/parts, and accessories or vintage auto related parts in the swap area. If you bring these items you'll sell well as that's what this crowd is looing for.
