Outstanding is too mild a word, but all I can think of now!! Fortunately the experts here have already identified most of the cars....wonder if it would be worth it to forward to Don Montgomery?

    THANKS FOR POSTING!!!

  7. Mammond, Mc Grath & Whipp "The Redhead". Bob Mc Grath ran well over 300 with a single blown Chrysler.

  8. Don't know the lakester in the foreground, but the one behind it is the Markley Brother's blown De Soto tank. Charlie Markley went 290 in it only 280 cubic inches!

  9. Another shot of the incredible Markley Brothers tank.

These are awesome pics, and thanks must also go to Jimmy and Dean for the history lessons.

While they are all great pics, the 427 Galaxie just made it as my new wallpaper (back in the
60's, my oldest brother had a 427 stick convertible with the ultra-rare bumper teets and my
other brother had a 390 hardtop, both were awesome cars)

    Thank you again CW!

  18. cars/tankers/streamliners, all awesome, but can't get over the creative trailers some of these are on. Appreciating how far people traveled towing these, can only imagine some of the wild stories they would have...

Thanks for the pics and the history, i can't believe how fast these guys were going. Incredible!
What about that little '32(?) pickup, is that thing sectioned? It is outstanding for sure.

  20. Chopped and channelled. That is the Roy Desbrow pickup, HRM cover car from Jan. 1952.

This looks like vintage El Mirage.

So I guess I will bring this back for them what ain't seen it yet. I tried teasing folks with it over in @HOTRODPRIMER s Vintage B&W thread, much too subtle I think, plus there's something about the thumbnail pics, I believe a lot of folks don't click on the thumbnails.

I have taken the liberty of enlarging some of @CW's40TPU s beautiful old photos . . .

This is HAMB treasure. And maybe, if they are not too busy, @Jimmy B and @Dean Lowe can restore the lost pics in their ID's of the cars. Just seems a shame that so many newer HAMBers have missed out on this stuff.
    So here goes:

Bear with me, will have to come back to this. Please feel free to post enlargements of C.W.'s outstanding pics, otherwise I will do the rest later.

  30. Nice shot, but it's not vintage. It is one of Jack Costella's new streamliners.
