You need to buy a 1950 Ford custom coupe and scare the shit out of him.

Those were about the coolest replicas done! I wanted one so bad when they were still around.

You know that the real thing had red stripes over the rear body lines?

The Rear of a Replica, but if you look at the real thing closely you can see the red coming over the right rear fender

  15. My guess is that you will never see a photo of the original with red on the rear fenders.
I think what is seen in the photo with Dean is a reflection.
I sure would like to see a photos of the original with the stripes.

The replica of the 4 cam fan shroud is a nice touch. Makes you do a double take when the hood is raised. I bet it's a blast to drive.

No one seems to know the true whereabouts of the original car, rumors float that George Barris kept on of the doors while parting it out. All the parts that were sold (engine, trans, wheels,) all ended up on vehicles that ended in fatal crashes as well.

  22. Hope your buddy doesnt turn gay like Dean! Not that theres anything anything wrong with that! LOL!

  23. And there is the proof. I stand corrected and thanks for the post.
Thanks LSR 2909, for sending your picture also.
I saw the wreck of the car at Miami car show just before it disappeared and I never remember the red on the back, but that photo with Dean is proof positive that it had red stripes.

This needs to be said huddled around the campfire, after dark whilst toasting marshmallows and shining torch under your face. If you could get a theremin playing in the background you would really nail it.

Never say never as far as seeing an original! I was out at a vintage home tour in my neighborhood back in March, and saw a 550 Spyder slowly winding it's way though the crowd that had gathered on the street. With a quick glance I thought "Beck replica". As it got closer, I damn near had a heart attack! Real deal! That's three of them I know of in the Phoenix area now!!! It was one of his 25 Porsche collection that he shuffles seasonally between his homes in Paradise Valley and Berlin, Germany. Guy thought I was a total nut bag for A. knowing what it was, and B. Knowing it was the real deal! 'Course, as we talked some "Earth Momma" type bitched at him because he left it idling and it was detroying "her" enviroment...
