The setting is contemporary, but the cars are truly vintage. This weekend's Sloan Summer Auto Fair feature old circle track open wheel cars. Enjoy!
gnichols;this was at the Sloan Museum Summer Auto Fair in Flint,Michigan. Going on today as well, but it's looking like it's going to rain-hard-very soon as I type this. Too many small leaks here and there on my car to drive in a monsoon;I know,I know...FIX 'EM! Mechanical issues first...
Awsome, the DA Lubricant car can come home with me, that thing is just awsome. Love the twincam ford cosworth, how they made those headers is a marvell, hell'uva engine too bad they were kinda short lived. I crewed on a Super that had the cosworth block from back in that era but it had wedge heads, i recall that when the block came from england it was on a crate - total weight was 96lbs! The #82 roadster is an interesting piece, it looks like a purpose-built super but still retains the indycar character, like you could pull the smallblock chevy and drop an offy-drake in there and have at it. I would have liked to have been there, thanks for the pictures - i don't know very much about those machines but when i see one i have to go thru them bolt by bolt.
The #82 was originally built as a Champ car, but has a long history. There's a web site devoted to it and its history: http://www.sdsproadster.com/SDSP/SDSP Roadster.html
Just got home. Great weather, great cars. And soooo many ideas from these racecars that can be put to use on hot rods. Awesome show for sure. I look forward to it every year.
