Art & Inspiration Ceramic Flatheads for home decor?

I was just sent this link and after searching the forums here I didn't find it posted, so I am!

An artist named Clint Neufeld has been making engines out of ceramics...

I know a lot of people will dislike this, but I thought it was hilarious, and I am blown away by skill and quality of these pieces.





















Bizzare, pointless, but way cooler then a hutch full of china any day! LOL

A ceramic Stromburg 97 would look fine on my desk!

I would like a nailhead and a flathead. I even know where I would put them ( since I've wanted to get the real think for display in the house anyway ).

No cost on them....... I know I can't afford them, or the shipping but still.

 

so I'm assuming by the detail those are original pieces that just ceramic coated and baked like the caddy flathead exh manifolds for instance? I cant see vintage furniture holding the weight though....cool nonetheless.

He cleans them up and makes plaster castings from actual engines that get pulled from rigs. He makes his molds from those.
He fills some of the area that would be massive heavy ceramic with foam to create voids that keep the weight down some also.

 

man id like to have one for the office.dont know why but i do!

The guy is one talented artist. I think they are great. Especially the undecorated ones.

 

My wife is a potter, but I doubt I could get her to make me one of these....

 

Probably the same reason why we hang old hubcaps and license plates on our garage walls.

You've got to start her off small, maybe with a carburetor or a manifold...

 

I like them,The blue and white one is awesome!

 

kind of goofy to paint them that way. they would be much better painted like a motor is supposed to be.
