I went to two estate sales which were both pretty neat.
Sale 1 look like the guy worked on cars in the 40s and fifties, I bought this grouping of tools in a wooden box covered in dirt and cobwebs. $4.00

and this creeper $10.00. It is really heavy, the corner pieces are cast iron.

I understand what most of this is but am at a loss for what this is or does, there are no real markings just some hand stamped numbers:

Is this some form of compression checker, I don't recognize the anodized aluminum fitting end:

Great deal! Can you post a photo of the left side of this thing? Looks like a handle for lifting things, but a battery lift isn't all metal. Bob

The second sale I found this poor compressor and very old Black and Decker bench grinder: $10.00 and free

As soon as this early 50s Spacarb soda fountain vending machine gets dug out I hope to have it decorating my garage:

I was thinking some kind of speader or seperator but am at a loss.

The wedge shaped end pivots and has a boss on the other side that has a hole for a lever (maybe?)

The Snap-on valve lash adjuster is pretty neat too, this is the reason I bought the box, the rest was a bonus.

Looks like a tire tool to me, used for seperating the bead, and possibly for a wheel weight?

$4 for a box that includes the hub puller! And no one has told him how bad he sucks yet?

For all of you guys with untrained eyes that there thingamagiggy is a leeberite and what yah do is leave it out so others will be impressed by your vast tool inventory. When they ask you just give them the look like my wife does and they will sulk off in embarassment for not knowing. Ha Ha

The one end of the tool looks as it is Made to sit on something round and the other is a pivoting wedge.

Could this be a tool to unseat early coil springs to lube the ends with grease? Maybe to stop squeaks

And probably well worth more than you paid for everything combined. You will become your flathead Ford and early Mopar buddies best friend when they find out that you have that tool.

Boy howdy you must have found a bunch of people selling things that they knew nothing about after seeing the air compressor and vintage B&D bench grinder. That bench grinder can be rebuilt by the local electric motor/tool shop if it doesn't work but it probably works fine. That was made when Black and Decker made real tools and equipment.
I always find the sellers who think because something is 60 years old and dusty and greasy it's worth twice what a quality new one is worth at the store.

On the Allen compression gauge, it looks like it is missing the tapered rubber cone that you slipped on the tube at the end and pressed in the sparkplug hole. That one is designed so you can hold it against the sparkplug hole with the palm of your hand and put some pressure on it.

The do-hickey you asked about looks like it might be used to pop a hubcap (wavey end) and undo lugnuts.

Is the cast end threaded inside??
It looks like it might thread onto a stud and swings around to latch something down.
