Long story short... This 1930 coupe was my brothers, and given to my step dad... Somewhere along the road it received a bunch of bad work. I'm trying my best to save it for him...

    When I got it.

    Rear quarters flared out.
big mess of a patch panel/welding
    [IMG]
The cross member holding the coilovers was literally a fence post... I replaced it with tubing.

door hinges welded on... with the door almost an inch out of alignment.

There were fender arches made out of conduit, and 1x1 tubing everywhere. Somebody had also attempted at patching the lower 8" of the car but overlapped everything... one patch had two overlaps like shingles! It was awesome. Also, the passenger side of the car was patched to be 2" lower than the drivers side... Anyway.. It was bad. more pics to come as I fix it.

I had my stepdad get the car media blasted... No clue where to start.. why not with the cowl.

    Rotted out....
    patch roughed in

    Now onto the doors...
Before... I should have taken a better picture of how big of a mess this was...
    gonezo.
patch formed... I put a lower bodyline in it because It felt right
    [IMG]
    tigged

    all better

Now moving onto where the roof is welded to the quarters....

Before.... This would have taken some filler for sure...

Bad section cut out. patch welded in

somewhat finished... still many hours left in this one..

That brings me up to date... So much more work to do... I'm also building another 1930 pontiac 3W at the same time. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=527997

You built some very nice panels. How did you form the body line in the cowl?

    Nice work, -Abone.

    Thanks!

the panel was made with a teardrop mallet, a stump and a planishing hammer. Pretty basic stuff, but it sure is fun. The bodyline in the door was put in with a bead roller

I admire your skills, sir. Continue the salvation...this little thing will turn out just fine under your supervision. Those welds on the body were terrible.

this ones irritating me because theres a piece of 1x1 behind the patch, so I can't work it as straight as I want. thank god for rage gold.

started making hinges/hardware to rehang the doors because the only hinges were basically a total loss....
