Looks like you have 31 spline axles. That rearend probably didn't come in that truck. It might even be a Trak Lok that someone would want. I'd just put it on the shelf though and use the Locker.

This is going to be a killer truck. Keep it up.

You said that the cab corners had to be replaced. Will you have to replace the inners as well?

 

Welcome to the Hamb. If anybody deserves to be here, it's you. Glad folks are liking the truck. We are working on a camper to go behind it.... That's where the hitch comes into play.

The inners are jacked up too. Nobody makes them, so the sheet metal break, roller and bead roll will come into play.....

Hey, what type of camper are planning to pull? I have a vintage Yellowstone 14' that I am putting behind my 57' Ford. Another week or two it might be ready for a trial run.

 

We are still looking....

 

I am finishing this Yellowstone but I might picking up a 1-owner 1952 "Airflight". I have to wait for the owner's kid to decide if he wants to take it to Colorado or not.

 

I'm in the market for a cool old vintage camper if anyone has a nice one.

 

I talked with a friend this weekend who told me I may have jumped the gun a little with my comment about the 2 hole in the axle flange, sounds like that is a true statement when talking 62 & up. He said he didnt think early trucks had anything but 28 spline axles. Maybe someone has swapped it out. Is it a 5 on 5 bolt pattern? My friend is CASTEEL on the HAMB, he has a 58 F100 and you have talked with him previously about yall's Sports (Buisness) Coupes, he has a 31 Sports Coupe. Sorry if I gave your wrong info.

 

Alright, mystery solved. It's a 31 spline rearend with a Trac Lok. Obviously didn't come stock in there....

Like suggested, going on the shelf.

 

I see from the casting numbers on the case C7AW that is a case from a 1967 vehicle. You scored twice, once with the strange unit and again with this one. COOL !!

 

C7.... Missed that somehow.

What did you do on the steering arm? I bought the mono leafs for my old '58 truck, now the angle looks WAY off.

The springs brought it down a good 3" like you said....

 

Mine has the stock steering rod on it. I'm using a power steering box off of a later truck o), but it's in the stock location.

I'm really surprised you got 3" out of the mono leafs alone. That's cool.

 

Anybody ever use '50 Pontiac taillights on these trucks? Couldn't help but notice that they look like they might fit....

 

How much difference in diameter? It'd be cool if they were bolt ins but fabbing something up if necessary should be a piece of cake, maybe even stack two on each side and French 'em a bit.

Here are a couple pics of pontiac tail lights. Need to open up the holes in the backing plate on the bed. These are attached with all thread through to the inside bed panel, then capped with the nut of your choice. They look cool !!

We worked on the rear suspension tonight. Worst case.... The bed floor is gonna be cut. A big C notch is in order for the frame too.

I used the Pontiac lights on mine. I just opened up 2 holes in the inner box side to get a socket thru with the nut inside it. Leaves 2 small holes in the back panel of the inside of the box. Worked fine.
