I can hardly believe it. What started as a severely disorganized drag race ten years ago is now a severely disorganized drag race that happens to be the best in the world. Of course, I'm biased... But hey man, if the shoe fits you best put the damned... <BR><BR>To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Man, if you have as much fun as we did at Eagle Field (Dos Palos, Ca) last month with the traditional drags (Hamb Classes, 1/8 mile, flag start) on an old military air field I wish I could go. Have a good one and keep it between the ditches!
Last year was my first and the fellers and I had a blast!!! Really was one of the coolest events I've been to for sure despite the ridiculously long drive to get there. I would love to come back out if I can however gonna be tough with a family vacation all set in stone and paid for. Maybe if I saying I'm going out there as a vendor it'll make more sense to my wife
Hard to belive isn't it?? From 20 of us sweating our asses off waiting for somebody...anybody...to make a pass to the giant drag strip party we have today is pretty damn amazing. See you in August, -Abone.
I hope this is my year of return. That being said, I was unable to book a hotel room. I got this message. "The Group Code provided does not exist at this hotel. Please check the code and try again. Contact your nearest reservation office for assistance."
Hey Nick, Call the Joplin hotel directly. They know what to do. Like Ryan says, this is the best drag race in the world. You need to be there.
Shit...Maybe i'll pre-register just to set a "Hard deadline" to kick my ass into gear? I mean, I can certainly be done by august...Damn i'm lazy
I did that before. It didn't work. haha. I am doing it again with my BSA this year because its a lot more feasible and closer to being done than when I did it with the 56 buick.
We are thrashing on the '57 Ford........ hoping to debut at the Drags!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=462619
HDJ reservation code didn't work for me either. I called the hotel and they knew nothing about an HDJ group code. So I made a reservation anyway, I'll work out the details later.
Yeah, Carl kept calling "the staging lanes are open" but the heat had us all moving in slow motion. I wonder who made the most laps that year. Krupanut? Seemed like every other time I looked up he was making another pass. When my block refused to quit leaking they backed me down and said no more. :-(
The first one was way cool. It was hotter than the hinges of hell, but we had a great time. They have all been good and living close has allowed us to come to them all. This year will be no different. Even when it rained, it was still fun.. Met the best people in the world, get sunburnt, a Denise hug if you're lucky, and have the best time you can have bout ever.... Lookin forward to being there again. VonDad
I just called and made my reservation. Just call the hotel and dial 0 for the operator and ask for the front desk and tell them whats up. Courtney at the front desk knew I was calling for the HAMB drags and was very helpful.
Is the group photo of the Hamb members from that first year still around somewhere. I was thinking about that photo the other day but can't find it. Of course that was about 3 or 4 computers ago. Smokey
GO man GOThis will mark my fifth time going to the drags, and hopefully (fingers crossed) second time running my car. This is the one to make it to fellas, the best damn racing in the country!!!
i've done 1500 miles and 24 hours of driving 3 times to go to this. it's a no brainer. awesome weekend. pre-reg'd and booked at the hotel. yahoo.
Geez, man...where have YOU been?? Your avitar looks like Mo-Kan 2003 as there is pretty much nobody there... See ya, -Abone.
