Are those assist bars on the front of the cage? Neve saw any before, just wondering. Great shots as always Bob, thanks for posting them. Bob:)[IMG]

  2. 37, yes they are. I can say from building our lakester that you NEED something to help pull your ass out. I went with a hoop over the dash. Last year Eric "Nexussian" looped lanyards from a dash hoop to grab and get out of his Berkley

Thanks Tman, isn't there a prerace tech section were a driver is asked to get out of the car in full gear, just to see how long it takes? Bob

  4. Yes, there is no time limit but every little bit helps. Full bodied cars can be worse than roadsters and liners-lakesters!

In our case, the more laydown the car is, the harder to get out. Think of a steel-tube sleeping bag and pulling yourself out with a cage around your head dressed for a five alarm fire!

  5. It's called a "bail out" - every driver needs to complete it and have it signed off in the log book - not so much about how fast you can exit your car - they want to see you to be able to get out on your own without panicking . . .

P.S. Bob, thank you for the great shots, including the one of my car!

Thanks, Bad Bob. I always love your work. Thanks for including Old Crow. Its good to see the HAMB represented. Especially anything with a banger.

Did that tank run as a lakester or a streamliner?

  23. With the wheels covered,it's considered a Streamliner. Open wheels,it's considered a Lakester. That's my understanding.

BTW-That's not the Old Crow. Bobby wasn't there.

Some day I hope toget to El Mirage and Bonneville, are they the same but different? What does one have that the other doesn't, likes, dislikes? Bob

  26. Tim Sutton was shooting the Vita Orr 32,so I let him stand in the back of my truck to get a few shots. I took a few of my own...

    Attached Files:

  27. El Mirage-Smaller,closer(haha),you can camp next to the track. Gets windy sometimes.

Bonneville-Lot more racers, the History, week long event, the drive there and back is half the fun,car show in town every night, you can camp there but it's 5 miles from the track,Hop Up BBQ/100MPH Club, three and sometimes four tracks. When you get there...you can't believe you are really there!!!
    NO DISLIKES.....it's Bonneville!!!!

  28. Cool car...
