picked up this 1962 mercury monterey its pretty much complete all the mouldings bumpers ect. are re chromed and sitting inside the car it was missing the carb. voltage regulator and a tail light but nothing major. the guy i purchased it from said his father had removed all the chrome and lights and had it painted but passed away before he had a chance to put it all back together and it sat for years. the paint has since burned off but regardless its a good start i'll be started a build forum as the car progresses

I really like these early 60s cars (I've got a 63 Chrysler Newport myself). Will be watching for your build thread.

HA exactly! im just glad there is light an an awesome building manager who gave me a spot to park her and doesn't mind me working there even after hours haha living in the city gets hard when you are trying to work on a car bigger than a toaster oven haha but i am happy to say I picked up a $15 carb. universal ignition switch a she's starting and rolling so the progress should be a lot faster now! oh I also am waiting for the missing tail lights I am purchasing from a fellow h.a.m.b.er!

Sweet car, I used to have a 63, drove it from Chicago to Myrtle Beach in 1973.... Still remember that trip down the Blueridge Parkway. Good luck with your car, I remember they were well made solid rides.

Lemme know if you end up needing anything for it. There's a 62 Mercury Monterey in a salvage yard not far from here, pretty much complete. It's one of those lesser known yards, so it hasn't been picked to pieces... yet.

Nice ride, and a good lookin' couple! Your Monterey brings back some memories. The old man bought a '62 brand new. 2dr ht, 390, auto, white top, pinkish (desert rose?) bottom, I was around 7 or 8. I wasn't crazy about, not because it wasn't a cool car though. He'd ordered a '62 Galaxy 500, 2dr ht, chesnut color, black interior, 390, 4-speed. After several delays, he got pissed & bought the Monterey off the showroom. That Merc would haul the mail no doubt, but I always wondered what would have been, had that Galaxy showed up on time....

Very cool car ya got there, and thanks for the memory jog!
