Another vote on the skirts, makes the car look longer I think. I'm guessing thats your Dad, looks like he likes 'em too.

These are the skirts I have with the ribs. They are much smaller. I think I will just sell them.

 

Like the progress so far, I have been keeping a close eye on your build, my own '48 started in a very similar condition.
Your thoughts on grills and skirts ect. is what I have rolling around in my head at the moment.

Update time

I finally took some pictures of my tins. After blast and etch I went back and wire wheeled out any bondo the blaster left behind. They don't blast off the deep stuff for fear of warping the metal. After these pics I hit the bare spots with etch and put them away.

Hey there, glad to see that another fab streamliner is coming back to life! i'm following your thread for sure! the ribbed skirts are 42 - 47 and hard to get, i know. what is the last decision about your powerplant? good luck on your build, like what you're thinkin'.

If you know anyone who needs the skirts let me know. The powerplant will be the 425 nailhead unless I find a huge problem when we open it up.

Frame is back from blast and in etch primer. Need to do lots of repairs! Most of the suspension parts are in the shop ready to go on once the repairs are done. I have been building for other people to get some money in my pocket. Spring yard work is almost done and I can get back on this.

 

Looking forward to the updates.

Next I need to tackle the x frame in the center. I need to find the correct size stock to recreate what GM made. They are a strange I-beam construction using multiple thickness materials.

When I picked up the pontiac the scout was gone along with the other trucks in the background. I am not sure where they went.

Sorry, I dont log on much....My current project is in paint so Im bored tonight and logged in to see whats happening on the HAMB. That rear bumper is the original bumper, i trimmed the splash pan so i could push the bumper tighter to the body, the bumper ends were cut off and wrapped tighter. Plating was very expensive, my plater asked me to only tack weld the bumper and he wanted to finish weld, copper plate, buff and then chrome. I think I had about $1200 in that bumper when i was done. If you need any help in the future feel free to email me.

and no that car is not c-notched in the rear.....El Polacko made a torque arm for the rear suspension.

 

My engine builder is looking for a rear sump oil pan for the nailhead. 57-61 should have the rear sump pan. Anyone have a line on one?

I have been messing around in photoshop trying to get the look I am going for. What do you guys think? Here are some options

I need to decided on some colors for this thing because the motor needs to be painted soon. I keep coming back to black with a red interior and red motor. I think the nail just looks so good in bright red.

nice, since i own my car i was sure it will come out completely in black. so nice! if you wanna see a Streamliner in black, look in my album (or just come around, for sure), just to imagine if you like or not.. i'm trying to do it only in black and shine (chrome, stainless, etc.) nothing else except the tan interior..
