I think I remember reading that they came out in the early '60's ('62-'63??).

Congrats on the score! How about some pics? I heard the two in the photos I posted went to Japanese collectors for BIG money.

Looking in to fixing my current wheel and going with a flake on it.

The wheel has plenty of cracks and gaps. So I will need to restore it. I tried searching but apparently I fail at it. Is there a thread on here regarding restoring a steering wheel?

Grant still makes this same wheel,in 15" with a 41/8" dish. No metalflake,no fingergrips, foamy or wood rim. Speedway Motors has them.

This wheel's been in my truck for probably over 30 years. I've never seen another like it in person... Only here on the HAMB classifieds, I've seen two 'flake' wheels come up with the same type of spokes. Can anyone ID the brand for me? It's about a 14"...Thanks...

(sorry, these are the best pics I have of it)

Thread looks a little dead, but I'd like to throw out that I'm in the market for an orange flake for my '53 chevy if anyone is willing to part with theirs.

Wow i didn't know people where still after these. I have a gold flaked one on my 62' impala that I really don't know how old it is. I know its been on the car forever it seems (im only 30 so I am not sure which one of my past relatives put it on there and when). Ill post a pic of it tomorrow. Personally not too fond of it actually...may sell it since there are people out there that want these style steering wheels.
