Just got the latest Hot Rod yesterday. That '56 looks great on the cover.

The mag reminds me of how unsafe most of those old gassers really were... I can remember racing my "gasser" 66 Nova (back in the day) that had the roll bar bolted to the sheet metal floor pan..DUH!

  9. Thanks everyone for the kind words, we are truly blessed to be on the cover and given eight pages to tell the story. They couldn't get all the pics in the mag, but said they will have them on there website version of the article. We also got a call from an old family friend who now lives in Tennesse. He and his brother have a bunch of old photos of our dads blue '56, so stay tuned.

Congrats, that was the best Hot Rod magazine I've seen in the last ten years.

  14. Thanks Violet, I'd have Willys too in a "New York second" if I could find a way. John Mazmanian loaned Dennis the five spokes and slicks from his Corvette @ Winternats in '63. He made it pretty far in "Little Eliminator" before he broke the dist. Cap/ rotor on a launch in the late rounds.

  15. Still fight an ignition miss ( think I got it figured out) and traction, high 7' s @ 91-92 in the eighth. The car has a Richmond street 5 speed in it now while the Liberty Nash is being freshened up, so no speed shifting. The engine should have enough muscle to run mid/ upper 6' s@100+ ( mid upper 10' s /125+ 1/4), and I'm not quiten until it at least runs in that neighborhood.

Congrats to the Panneton Bros for the beautiful Chev Gasser you built !
It was nice to finally see some Gassers being covered in HOTROD . You just don't see them covered like all the others they usually write about .
Again congrats on the beautiful gasser and getting it put on the cover of HOTROD !

OK, I read the article. SO, is it, or is it NOT your dad's old car?

  19. Can someone post the cover 'cause I just looked online and didn't see it. This is for the June issue right? Hot Rod or Hot Rod Deluxe 'cause I searched both.
