I finished buffing and waxing the Poncho this morning. It's crazy how nice that old paint has remained after 62 years.

i love the color once you buffed and waxed it!!!!!!!! glad to see a poncho on the road. if you havent got the brake light ishue fixed you may want to buy a flip switch that goes behind the petal and wire that in, i have never had good luck with those preshure switches

  6. That is a beautiful car. I would say a pair of skirts is all it needs to look perfect. Your little ankle biters will enjoy riding in that! My experienced advice is to keep it functional and take your kids to everything you can in it. Before you know it they will be grown up and gone. I had my car torn apart for too many years when my kids were young.

    Update!

So... I still need to overhaul the brakes, but late last summer I had fuel pump and carb issues. This spring I rebuilt the pump and the carb and the car is now running fairly smooth. It still needs some fine tuning, but so far so good.

Time to move onto the brakes and fix the leak in the radiator!

As requested... here are some engine and interior shots. As you can see I still have some work to do under the hood. I would like to replicate the original plug wire loom. I have the original loom, but I'm afraid I'll break the metal tabs when I try to open it. I would also like to mount the ignition coil away from the engine to prevent cooking it. Enjoy the photos!

    Gosh I love your car.

In my opinion, it just needs skirts, wider whitewalls, to lower the rear, and to replace the rubber rock guards with chrome ones.

I'm very envious. I bought my car with modifications already done to it (that i have gone back and basically changed all of) so I haven't had the pleasure of having an all original car.

I saw the first few posts last summer but lost track of the thread - it looks really nice with the paint all rubbed out. How's the upholstery under the seat covers? Personally, I'd go with blackwall tires but that's about all I'd do to it.

  24. Really neat car.

A good paintless dent guy can straighten that drivers door out easy.
