I'm way late to this thread but I'm pulling for ya, Bobby. I'm 2 years clean after being diagnosed with Stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma in my tonsil and adjoining lymph node. I had a tonsillectomy, lymph node dissection, and 35 radiation treatments... lost 37 lbs... plus all the other side effects, some of which still linger. Still getting scanned every 6 months, and hopefully will be for a long time to come.

The point here is to emphasize that the 'the fight' people like to refer to when they say someone is 'a real fighter' and 'he's fighting cancer' is not actually one's fight against the disease... it's the struggle to stay positive and to tolerate the damn treatments. I was told by many that I had a surprisingly positive attitude while going thru my deal... and I was told by my doctors that I handled the treatments surprisingly well. Nice sentiments, but the truth is that I didn't really feel like I had a choice... just nutted up and did it.

Stay positive and strong... prove the docs wrong... and shout if you wanna talk. We're all pulling for ya.

I've been a little behind on reading much on the HAMB lately and didn't realize all the strong words of support you guys have sent, thanks to all for keeping me in your blessings!
Thought my cancer is (supposedly) terminal with only 2-3 months left I'm hanging in there praying for that miracle to happen, (they do you know!)
I told my wife about the time I get done selling all my hot rods, projects and tools I've collected over 40 years they will find the miracle drug I need and then I'll be ready to kill myself!
Again, thanks all for your thoughts and prayers!

My nephew Jacob at 6 years old was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoma. It was a hard long road, but the young man is 20 years old now and amazing! Good luck and I know everyone here is pulling for you.

  10. Bobby, you are in my prayers. Miracles happen every day and I pray you get yours.

    Bobby,

I hope you went to the best specialist you could find. Ask for alternative treatment. I had stage 4 throat cancer I went to university treatment hospital they have all the best available treatments. Next my family told me they were going to take me to Houston they have the biggest cancer treatment center in the nation. don't just sit and wait it's not like building a rod, go to the best shop you can find. GOD BLESS.

  15. Prayers to you buddy, keep on keepin' on.

    Survivor here.

They took a 5cm x 7cm egg shaped tumor out of my neck.

Radiation kicked my ass the worst. Took me a while to come back from it, but I am into the 6th year in remission.

You can do it. Keep fighting. My brother in law is on year two after throat cancer, and doing well.

    Best of everything to ya

    B.

About, oh.. shoot, it's been 6 years since a Doctor told me that I would probably be dead in 6 months. I told him to go fuck himself with a soldering iron.

I beat Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. And I am over 2 years and then some clear of this shit. Laproscopic surgery (A few times, including another to nip something they missed), Radiation, all sorts of fun chemo, you name it. I didn't have health insurance, I lost my house, my shop, almost everything. I went from living in a big house and owning some great cars to moving back home at 32 because I was too sick to work for a while and then broke from paying off the medical bills. But screw it, I'm here.

DON'T GIVE UP! Don't listen to these schmuck doctors, get another opinion, order some DCA, do what you can.

Look into DCA, it's worth a shot and the stuff has performed miracles. I took it and I am convinced that it helped the second round. I got some light tremors in my hands when I took it and since I am off of it on rare occasions I get slight short tremors in one of my hands and my feet, but I'm here to feel 'em and that's all that matters.

For the rest of you... STOP CONSUMING HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP! That shit causes Pancreatic Cancer, I got lucky and was diagnosed early but this crap directly feeds PC cells, it's evil.

Not sure if it has been posted, Bob (BobbyD) Dixon has past away. He spent his last couple of weeks surrounded by his friends and wife while working in his shop. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. To all that posted I will say "Thank you" from his family and friends for the encouragement in his battles.

    RIP - BobbyD

My pops had lymphoma twice. Once around 1990, the second around 1999. He pulled through both times, kemo sucked but radiation sucked the life out of him. Good news is he is still here.

What pissed him off the most is when he went for treatment and one of the nurses told him "I guess now you know why smoking is bad for you." My father never smoked a day in his life! I'm sure all those years of paintin cars and welding didn't help...
