ok were gona ruin a prefectly good mild custom caddy convertble , and restyle it . alright were not actualy going to ruin it but bring it around to greatness. the car already has the door handles and most of the badges shaved and has a desent paint job this was an oridgonal pink car from the factory and the convertable is in great shape.its lowered has new tires and fairly fresh motor.basicly a vary nice car the motor is dressed up and motor compartment painted.we were going to just repaint the car and call it a day but i dont think i can have my wife driving around in a car that we didnt build.any ways it has evolved into a complete restyling and new paint interrior sterio tire and chrome
the list of mods is exstensive and we are bring the pink paint back but nothing like cadilac ever did:D
heres the list of mods not nessesaraly in order and a complete list
chop the convertable top & make it funtionable
re locate the gas filler into the trunk ( its behind the rear licesnse plate )
shave the caddy embleme and key on deck lid
fill the liscense plate cut out on the deck lid
shave the tail lights on the fins
    shave the mirror and antena
exstend the rockers to hide the pinch weld
    rework the front wheel opening
make a grill opening in the rear
custom ball grill front and rear
    custom hand made tail lights
restyle the front fenders to meet the front bumper
fill the cowl but not the whippers holes
    change the dash
weld the front fenders to the rockers
    round the door corners
weld the cowl to the fenders ( maybe )
round the back of the hood corners
    rework the skirt openings
lets have some fun follow us down this crazy path its byfar to late theres no turning back

we felt the the best place to take the 3" out of the a pillar was at the vary top now ive never did this before and seamed odd but the a pillar was almost strait up and down at the top and would require the least amount of realignment also the top of the windshield about 4" anyways tilts back so why not just got rid of most of the lean back or tilt back of the apillars and glass tony gomes at tri valley auto glass agreed with me and my guys on this sure hope its the right desision cutting the a pillar at the top did have me worried about changing the angle to top of windshield opening because thats were the front bow rests

the biggest chalenge to a convertable top chop is getting all the bows to clear the back seat top when folding that will come later i want to get the a pillars cut set and almost fully welded so tony can come out and cut the old glass to see if its going to work
soooooo lets get to cutting some shit up:D
remember GOOD layout is every thing so MASTER it

first we have to lay out our curs on the a pillar the gene winfield way

we like to make all our cuts BUT not cutting all the way threw leaving alil piece atached untill ALL the cuts are made then make the finial cuts with a sawsall it makes removale easyer esp when its a whole top your chopping not just a windshield frame

You just made that caddy look a million times better... I alwaus thought a 61-4 cad would look great with a Carson or Gaylord style top on it with a low profile.
