Just stumbled on this today. Going to see the inside next week, says it's probably for sale..haven't got that far yet. Think it will look good in my driveway.
Powered by a turbo Covair engine. Will know more about it soon, just thought you would like to see it, if you never knew about them.

what could be cooler as an RV than a Corvair Turbo-powered one.... that's definitely different! and something you do NOT see every day.

hmmm.... Land Speed Record Motorhome Candidate?

Sweet. They're constructed like an airplane with no chassis. Independent suspension front and rear. Supposed to easily cruise at 60mph and get 15mpg.

Sorry to burst the bubble, they were not powered by a turbo corvair motor.

Early production models were powered by a 2x1-bbl 110HP corvair motor and later years it was the 4x1-bbl 140HP motor.

I'd buy it even if it needs an engine/drive transplant. A Toronado/Riviera/Eldorado dribetrain would wake it up.

How about those great old motorhomes built by Clark Industries. Front drive/flat floor, low profile. Condor I think maight have been the name.

Looks like it's already been modified, 110 hp is about it, I drove Monzas with that horsepower and they were ok, not sure about that drag coefficent and weight though.

One of those sold here locally a couple of years ago, but it had a corvette IRS and a 327/powerglide set up. Check out the Revcon motorhomes! They were like the Clark Cortes, but built by a relative of the Airstream guy! I had a 73 with an olds toranado front drive and a 455. Fun and easy to drive! and rode faily smooth, not like a 1ton truck!

Cortez. Built about as heavy duty as the forklifts Clark built.

I think they are cool. A friend of mine had one. His was low on power. He installed a later more powerful version of the turbo engine and modified that a little too. They were built by airplane guys. Like an airplane, they were made mostly of light gauge sheet aluminum. The suspension has large spherical rod end pivots. No matter what you do those wear, so keep an eye on them.

The Olds powered ones were a later, bigger, heavier unit, not the same as the pics posted by the OP. Some people did put different engines in them, but they would typically be adapted to the Corvair transaxle, so that sets the limit on power increase..
