As aussiesteve said,it's an aussie body, the 33/34 aussie open cars were imported from canada in a knock down state due to government import/local content laws at the time.
The aussie open cars were than assembled locally and built up on a wooden floor, having the body sit up on the chassis unlike the steel floor U.S versions. Our doors are shorter, folded up at the lower edge
and the lower section of the cowl is swept up.
The spear is to cover the gap between the door sill and running board.

There is no better canvas to display the difference between the graceful delicate sloop of a '33 grille and the "take no prisoners" aggressive presence of a '34 grille than a roadster body of those years.

    Hi all

Here is my girl judy`s Channelled lowboy 34 roadster, which she has owned and driven now for 22 years. An early Australian (Victorian) hotrod with some known history. It was rebuild in 1972, so it has now been on the road ever since ........ 40 years.

    " It`s Not tired , just used "

Here is mine I just sold a couple of months ago. I will take a model 40 over a Deuce roadster any day. I did not finish it but the new owner did. Now I want another one. Great thread!

Saw this beauty for the first time yesterday at our donut get together. The pic does not do it justice! I've been thinking about this car off & on all day, damn it - another great build for Terry from Ontario CA.

Here's a photo my dad shot around 1956 at the Sunshine Dairy in Northboro Mass. That's dad's friend Bobby Wilson in the roadster. That's my future mom in dad's '55 Pontiac. Where's this roadster today??

The one on the left belongs to my brother. It is an Australian '34 and they were built like that to accomodate a wooden floor which was about an inch thick and so the body sat higher on the frame. A "spear" was then added to fill the gap.

Here are some pics of one I looked at a couple of years ago in the same area, could be it. I can't find my pics of it, but someone else sent me these vintage pics of it. If so, it's still around. It had the Deuce grille, but no roll bar. It did have the cycle fenders as in the pics. East coast style, so could just be a similar car, but the guy in these pics looks like the guy in your pic.
