Name change and a promise. the pressure is building.

  4. I live about an hour from the Jack Daniels distillery, I took the bottle to them and said the same thing, it had to be a defect. They didn't buy it either!

  5. It's been a week(Ha Im starting to sound like my wife)
    :p
    The suspense Is Killing me

    Bastards!!!!1
So I got my refill today It feels so GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!
Hey will you do me a favor and get an job application at the distillery?
I want the taste control and supervision position.:)

    COE progress.:
At the beginning of this boring thread I had a rough list Of what I needed,I have to go back and cross a bunch of those Items off and start a new list.
Here is a small list that I need to get the truck rolling on its own power:

    1. Tires
    2. Wiring(I have the complete wiring from a 59 GMC bus in excellent condition but I don't know how difficult it would be to modify it to my application(yes I realize I'm a cheap bastard)
    3. Transmission oil cooling lines
    4. Transmission oil dipstick and tube
    5. Transmission Oil
    6. Radiator
    7. Lower radiator hose
    8. Power Steering hoses
    9. Fabricate rear shock mounts
    10. Front and rear shocks
    11. Mount Battery
    12. Fab Battery cover/Passenger step.
    13. Install windshield
    14. Install taillights
    15. Install "marker"lights
    16. Figure out how to install hood
    17. Rebuild brakes
    18. Secure brake lines
    19. Finish the Ebrake installation that I started
    20. Hunt random E brake clips that I lost.
    21. Figure out cooling system
    22. Buy electric fuel pump
    23. Buy regulator
    24. Fabricate Underdash Shifter(I will be happy If I can figure out how to do it on the column
    25. Get gas tank Cleaned and sealed
    26. Install and plumb gas tank/lines
    27. Learn how to install Head lights
Today I got some encouraging Words from them hambers and got a little bit done.
I resolved that Issue with the engine sitting so high.
I modified the StockDog house because the bottom was hitting the top of the valve covers..
It was easier than moving the engine down and backwards and fabbing new mounts...
    And probably more fun.
(Only a few shots Were injured in the modifying of this item)

  6. I'm really just a poser,but I think the jig is up.

Glad you and Jack got back on track.

  7. Hey,I will take that as an insult,,,there is no bigger poser than me.:p
And Jack is a good friend.

  8. I do like Jim but his hangover is not my thing so I will stick with Jack,,In fact he is here rite now.

Thanks I really needed them words to get out there and work on something.Im really pumped up today to finish that doghouse but Im going to look at some vintage Iron in the desert later on.
I was sworn to secrecy so there might not be pictures.

  9. Hi People.
    I have a question.
Do I really need to run an oil cooler?
I really hate the extra hoses and small radiator that goes with it.
I mean the motor oil cooler,And Can I block it off If I can get away with out it?
    Thanks

  10. I'm late to this thread but have to say: you are having way too much fun with this thing! And that a lot of posts for only a year! LOL

Really do like the project!! Those COE's are great! Picked up a flattie and truck 4 speed from a '52 couple years back. Motor checks out to be a builder!

Can't wait to see it on the road! Keep posting those pics...

I would most definitely run a transmission cooler. If you have one built into your radiator that would be awesome. If not, they make ones that bolt to your frame rail and you can mount it close enough that the hoses are relatively short.

  12. I was asking about the motor oil,the one that comes out of the oil filter.

  13. Where you live, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to run one.
You should be OK without, though.

  23. Hey gang.
    I have a domb question:
My th 400 transmission didn't come with a dipstick or cooler liner etc.
I found an oil dipstick and filler tube? out of a chevy van but now I dont know which of the 2 holes its supposed to go into.
There is a hole to the right side to the front and there is one behind it with a little wire hook sticking out..Which oneof these is it and whats the other one for?
    Thansk

  24. The hole to the front should be for the dipstick.
the one with the little hook should be for the kickdown cable.
I don't have a lot of experience with th400 ,but I remember th 350's having a hook for the kickdown.
    Ever tried the Honey Jack?

th400 has an electric kickdown so there is no cable. if it has a cable kickdown it is not a th400

Yeah me too. Gonna have to kick my own ass for missing this so far. Did you sort out the wiring Seth? The Rebel Wiring 9+3 is a piece of cake to install if you decide to go that route. I did one last fall and it nearly fell into place. Hell, Jack could do it by hisself I bet.:D

I really really like that build.
    Awesome looks in every way...
Your truck, so build it your way...but coming from an Old Fart..."Leave that body and paint just like it is... It ROCKS"
Way too cool to bugger all up with new paint....then it will just look like another custom...
    Cheers.........

  28. I havent had Honey Jack but sounds yummy.
I was at a little club last weekend and I asked to see Jack,They wanted $8.........

    I will try to post a picture,thanks

Thanks Chris,I havent done the wiring but I have to get into it soon,It look like I will use rebel wiring.Jack would be proud if I did more than wiring tailights.Im an expert wiring tail lights.
Does this Rebel kit have a headlight, turn signal and 3 wire alternator set up?
Thanks Man,It means a lot when you guys with way more experience approve.
I wish I was better at my fabricating skills and I wish I knew more about engines.
Im leaving the body as is,Im just getting rid of all the cancerous rust and straightening the body as much as I can.
    Thanks again.

Here is some pictures of the Transmission.
Now I now that The holes are either for the oil tube and/or the kick down cable.:

Regarding the Rebel Wire kit you can order one tailored to your vehicle and individual components. Contact Tugmaster on here or email Rebel Wire directly. Bob was very prompt and helpful when I gave him the specs of my '51 F1 and the harness was great. Got a couple pics on my '51 F1 project album. Best of all, even though my truck had a GM steering column with all the bells and whistles, the whole kit was less than $200 shipped to my door. Eli

That trans looks like a 4l80E? I thought a th400 had an odd shaped pan?
