Glad you like it, but that's not the way it was found, I must say.

I just wanted to get your attention!

I changed it to this look, as I think it may have looked more like this in it's prime. This is only until we find some history on it.

I'll take you back to the start later, after I tell you how it was found and how it had been up dated to run in the late 90s (I'm guessing).

The seller on the car, Robert told me that he started buying storage lockers and units to make some spare cash.

Sounds like the unit was full and he could only see the upper corner of the windshield and trim.

He knew their was a '55 to '57 Chevy car in this unit and bid to win. After digging it out this is what he found...

Who knows there '56s, The trim on the side of my car is that Belair? It has holes in the Quarters that I was thinking were for the Belair emblems?

  11. Swap out the snorkel scoop and put on a pair of gold anodized velocity stacks and it would be perrrrfect.

    Love the car!

  12. Yep, Bel Air. A 210 would be a single spear going forward.

I went through all 547 pages of Fotki.com (Grasser pictures) last weekend and did not found one picture even close to this car. Found many pics of Satisfaction, but of this '56.

Like I said, it was found on the East Coast, in New Jersey.

The window sticker from S&W Race Cars, dates back to '64 I think their from Pennsylvania. I guess they worked on it, there is a lot of nice work on it, as far as fabrication.

It was originally turquoise, Then white and now gray primer. Mike

Nice car. You may want to post it up on Gassermadness.com and see if the guys that hang out over there can help.

Since I am a Ford guy , I am a little bias BUT you have a great looking Old Skool Gasser ! Looks like someone bought it and did an upgrade to the front brakes with disc brakes and didn't do much else .
the way the interior and cage is set up it's from the mid 60's for sure . Even the dash is period correct . still a great piece of history in your garage ! When you finish the car and take to the local track to race , you just might have someone walk up and tell you it looks like so & so car back from the 60's or 70's ! Many cars are found out by that way at tracks and car shows .
Have you tried checking with the vin numbers to see who the last owners wee and go from there . They might still be around and can tell you who bought the car from them and then made the gasser from it . Even without a vin plate you can check the frame and other places the vin numbers were stamped back when it was built and go from there .
I hope to see you at the tracks one day and find out it's real name !

BTW i am going to be building a period correct 1950 Ford Sedan gasser with a 1970 Ford 429 and 4 speed toploader close ratio trans with a 4.88 rear next winter .
I have always loved gassers no matter what makes they are but finally got the one I always wanted since the late 60's when I saw my first one !

I wish you the best and hope you find out the information or at least the "Name" it had !

    Thanks Jim,

I have a '69 429 toploader too, NOS Hurst shift and scatter shield (to Chev) and willing to put it in one of these gassers if I find out that they ran that.

That had to be one of the best set ups back in the day.

Nice to here from guy that love a gasser and all great gassers were mutts back then, they use what they found to be the strongest and what they could just find!

Hope to see your build someday, good luck, Mike

  25. Great choice, I really like the old "Grump Lump" scoop, and sucking high pressure air off the base of the windshield is a
better place on these cars than forward facing scoops.

Yuppers, the scoop change is an improvement.

I have no info on the car but it is dead nuts on as far as being set up as a serious gas class car in the mid sixties complete with the van seats for light weight but being class correct in being able to seat two people. Quite a time capsule there.

No, I'm not, I have only $42.00 in my pocket! I don't drink nothing but water, don't smoke anything, don't even drink coffee and live in my shop.

I have a lot of out dated race shit.

Lived and breathed motor sports sense I was six years old.

Just have a lot of stuff or should I say I'm just a pack rat! Mike

Ok, How far back do I fit the scoop?

If you look at the pics the second carb is almost under the windshield.

I was thinking that I'd run it all the way back to the edge of the hood.

The other Question is, do I mount it up throw the bottom of the hood?

It does not have to that high.
