This may be a little off topic, it deals with two wheels instead of four.

. . . but if you're anything like me, I like all things mechanical. If it's got a motor, I might be into it. If it's old, then I'm definitely into it (except for spoiled food, smelly old ladies, etc. . .) and, if it's going to break down, be fixed, ridden or driven hard and break again, then I'm all over it.

So, I thought that some guys here might appreciate this.

Ok, onto the trailer/ clip below. I followed some friends as they rode their bikes on the first Motorcycle Cannonball. The run was all pre-1916 motorcycles. Some were single cylinder engines, some had no transmissions (just a belt and a tensioner). They started in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. . . and drove clear across the country to Santa Monica, California. Literally "Coast to Coast", on all secondary roads, no highways!

. . . and since I like to witness pain and suffering I tagged along and made a movie about the trip. Some guys had mini lathes and mills with them and machined parts in parking lots along the way, and other guys had small welders to zap the the occasional broken motor mount back into place.

So. . . without further ado, here's the trailer to my new film (coming May, 2012). Enjoy, feel free to re-post it elsewhere, on your facebook page, blog, etc. . to help me spread the word. Thanks for reading, and thanks for the continued support!

Now that is cool! Having done a couple of 2000+ mile trips myself on a modern motored hardtail was an adventure in its self let alone with 96 year old technology! Awesome!

Dig it. I love things with two wheels and four wheels.

Pre 1916 cross country? That's some dedication.

Malcom, on the first run of the Cannonball I think 75 bikes went. We took The Southern route through the U.S. This year the rout is going across The North, staring in New York and ending in San Francisco. They might pass through Nebraska.

Two of the guys in the film met each other cause The Spake motor is a very odd design that's difficult to work with. Bill Nugent, found the Sears and no one could rebuild the motor other than Sean Brayton, so Sean did the motor, they became friends and both rode across the country on the Cannonball together.
