We're off the beaten path a little, a dead end gravel road. Might be able to see it from a distance.

And a 5.5 inch front chop/ 9 inches in back... I feel kinda funny all over.

  6. Thanks for the pictures and "how to" on the trunk latch. I picked up an Autoloc latch and built the same thing for my Merc. Works perfect.
Love the HAMB. Sharing information, ideas and experience!

It sits good in the picture above.... "perfect stance is the new laying frame".

Painted the wheels today and met up with the painter who's going to be laying paint in July. I'm close to making my mind up on the colour. It wont be black and red isnt in the picture. It looks like a Hot Rod Flats Pearl colour is going to be it.

I guess tomorrow I'll order up a set of whites pretty soon.

  9. Me thinks this is going in the right direction. Thank you.

A few things have fallen together real nice to make this happen this year.
I've been buying, building and selling enough " always wanted" cars over the last few years to know it's time for me to find my keeper.

I think about all the product I've consumed, paint I've sprayed over the last 5 years just to feed my passion. I'm emarking on a new venture with this sweety. Jobbing out some of the things I could do half ass in exchange for having it done well. I dont think I qualify as a goldchainer by any means but I wont be able to say I did this all on my own either. But you know, I'm okay with that. I can see my dream coming to reality and I'm pumped!

Man, I just read the whole thread- you are hauling on this beauty. I have to say that she looks great in primer as well. Those Aerostar springs are great, I have some on my '53 and in addition to the lowered stance, the handling has improved drastically. While I am down with a chop, the photoshop version above is a little too much for my taste. You have done an amazing job so far and I have every confidence that she will end up looking great. (oh yeah, VERY happy to hear that you are not going with flat black!)

  13. That's a helluva nice shop, where the heck are you? I'm guessing BC or AB?

Just looked at what you did with your trunk release, I'm working on the same thing right now, and trying to figure out the cable release. You've given me some ideas.

Thanks Big A, it's my home away from home where gas is cheap and the music is never newer than 1965. I'm over in the Okanagan of BC.

A perfect day for sunning outside.

the kit - notice 7 of 8 nuts. I'd hate to be missing my left nut, fortunately I have a few extras:

Looks great! Two more inches all around and it'll be PERFECTION! :D

  18. I'm diggin' your shop and your car. The Okanagan is beautiful, I drove through 2 years ago, Van to Calgary. I'm suitably jealous. Even the Canadian flag is pre-'65.

Where'd you find the 4" blocks? I've got 3" in mine, but I'm thinking about going for that extra inch.

Nightprowler offers a HAMB discount for alliance members, they've got them.
You can get them at shoebox.com too but you'll be paying more.

You picked up on the flag... good for you! I always fly a fresh one on my pole November 11th and the old one gets put out to the shop.

With a 4" block how much travel would you say you have till it hits the bumpstops/frame?

I'm already steeling the Aerostar springs idea, might as well steel the stance as a whole haha.

Between the top of the axle and the bottom of the chassis, or chassis from the ground?

WOW! With that much clearance, and the great stance of your shoe, I'm wondering why anyone needs to C-notch the rear frame! It looks like it would almost "lay frame" without a notch!

What's your driveshaft to floor clearance? Enough to worry about? What the lowest part of the car... "scrub line"?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to get a good grasp on where my '50 is going to sit. Without the flattie back in yet (sent pumps to Skip Haney for rebuild) it's hard to picture "my car". Aerostar springs are a given, and I had planned to flip the uprights too, then do "whatever" to the back to get it to sit flat. Your thread has been a great help helping me plan my vision!
