Yessir. Now I have what I wanted, to hell with my Cadillac, saved it, repaired, now it is time to go. Few weeks ago I found an add for a 1929 A, and few days ago I went to see it, somebody was apparently knowing that he will store it for a while, so it was painted with red oxide primer, chassis and all was covered with grease, so was the engine. Hooked up a new battery, checked fluids and gave it some fresh fuel out of a can, and that bastard started right away, and runs strong.
According to papers it was stored about 40 years ago, and was dug out in january this year.
Yesterday was a big day, I could purchase it for a bargain, only stealing it would be cheaper.

Rust is minimal, floors and frame seem untouched, same goes for everything that moves, of course after all that years there is some work involved, but I think it's an easy fix to get it back on the road...

Now. I have no intention of keeping it as is, and niether am I interested in chopping it all up. This will be a hop up that goes along with the rules in this country, and can be driven on the roads. Therefore the idea is as follows:

    - Drop the front
    - Keep the mechanical brakes
    - Ford steelies all around
    - Skinny whitewalls
    - Fourbanger
    - Lion Speed Head
    - Stromberg
    - Different cam
    - Fuelpump
    - 12 Volt conversion
    - Turnsignals
    - Emergency lights
    - Full fenders

All period stuff, should look like this when I'm done, and I'll take it from there, eventually I might take off the fenders and keep runing from the Police, maybe I'll find a coupe body someday. Who knows. First I want to get it to the state shown below, and have some fun with it.

    See ya.

Don't worry about a coupe..what you have is great. Those whitewalls in your drawing are fat, not skinny. Stay with the fat.

Looks good to me. I would put juice brakes on it though. Just my personal preference.

No, I'll stick with mechanical for a while. The Cadillac has juice brakes, electric windows, mechanical choke, and other crap nobody needs. I want it simple, and pure.

Yea, I want ww in how they are supposed to be, can't stand modern tread on old cars, looks unbelievably crappy, and destroys everything.

I love the concept. I personally run mechanical brakes on all my model a's. With the 4 banger, they will be fine.

  15. I like the style on the drawing!! Hope to see it on the road, Congrats !!

  17. Be sure to work out the details of dropping the front and keeping the mechanicals. I don't remember the details but remember reading about challanges when doing this.

I strongly believe that It'll stop whenever I wish. Furthermore I think that properly adjusted mechanical brake will be just as good with the lack of power, as a juice brake. And it's easier and simpler to maintain.

The front will be dropped by reversed eye spring, should go down 3-5 inches. Seen it on a hot rod built by one of my buddies, that and bigger rubber in the back of the car should give it the stance I wish.

  22. Reversing the eye only drops it the height of the eye- 1". You can take a lot of leaves out but it will still only go down a couple more inches and ride like shit. On my A, I used a 4" dropped axle, reversed the eye and took a couple leafs out. Used a T spring in the back.

Chris, we'll see, rideability is #1, but I have experienced dudes around who will help me with all that stuff.

Here is the rake on my buddys car, just enough to make the difference:

Run a 32 heavy beam withe the taller 32-34 spring perches and a reverse eye. You can use all your model a actuators and brakes. Ive done it and others on here have done it with various methods as well. . Very nice score by the way.

I like everything about the drawing except the goofy shark teeth...the car doesn't need them to make a statement...my .02 cents...
