Yes !!!!! Thanks for more pictures at the Peterson.I really regret never going to that exibit. Those are great pictures you have.I really wish they would do something like that again,I think it would give traditional customs a much needed shot in the arm.It would help introduce more car people into how customs were back then and how some are still done that same way. Anthony.......I agree with you about the Ford.It is just deadnuts perfect in every way.Im not sure whats under the hood though.I would really like to know more history about that car.Im not sure if it is an old custom or not? I know there were some older pics of it on another thread but I dont know how old they really are.
. Yes, Jeff that was a really good exhibit and it's time for them to do it again! They covered a lot of ground but it needs to be put back out there for all the new people that need to see the great history. I will do my best to lobby for it...! .
My pleasure. I have more but still searching through pics. Here's the Harry Westergard (Mel Falconer) '39 Ford Convertible....
The front grille treatment was pure genius, 40-41 Packard grille. What I wanted to use on my '40 Merc coupe, but not sure. I think I will stay with the original grille. I love this Custom, my favorite along with the Zarro and Andril. Ken
Nice shots Ollin! ...A larger version of that 3rd group pic would make a swell wallpaper on my 'puter... Hint, hint. -Dave
Ollin, thanks for the shots. Funny how none of us can remember which VLV that was. I do remember Skinny Jeff drove up with us that year, AND Alex crashed his 5 window into the wall on the roof. Every one of those trips was such a goddamn good time and adventure. It was an underground/secret society vibe for sure. Those days are long gone. Regarding Fish's coupe- I can't tell you the countless hours I have followed or led that car on the road and enjoyed every minute of soaking it in. D
I don't say much 'round here but this is one of only 2 or 3 threads I'm subscribed to. Those first few VLVs were awesome - brings back a lot of great memories. Jeffsled - saw you driving on Brookhurst a few weeks back. Car looks so fantastic rolling!
Thanks for the compliment I think Sleds look the best when they are rolling.Just shows the true flow of Customs.
I love this thread!! Heres my new retirement project just purchased from another H.A.M.Ber the mystery 46
Thought I was subscribed to this thread, but I guess not. This and the Watson thread are some of the few threads left on the HAMB where you don't have to look at vehicles lying on the ground anymore.
Hi everyone! Just back from a weeks tour and before that, playing Viva Las Vegas 2 weeks ago. Man, it's great to see how alive my old thread is and all the nice contributions and enthusiasm around the subject. Those pics from VLV -99 with the Choppers cars are wonderful. I remember it so well. My first gig at VLV and hanging around with the wonderful Shifters gang. Axle crashed his deuce coupe to the wall on second floor and my record laying in the front seat next to him. Crazy times! The car show in 2012 is another story. I don't mention it here. Me and Marky in his little A back in -99. Cold weather and cold beer! We should have had gloves... Keep those great pics of the NEW built cars coming. My LaSalle will soon be on the road, I hope. Give me a few weeks more. But long from being a kustom, though. That will be later on...
