I've checked the search function and found an 11 inch clutch NAPA number 4214. Does anyone have a number for a 10 inch clutch for an S-10 T-5 14 spline ? I'm running a 302 GMC. EDIT: Found the Combo. The clutch # 4212 and the pressure plate 5472. They fit my 6 bolt GMC flywheel.
Closest I have found is a 9 11/16" disk.......napa #ND4201. Speedway and others offer a 10" disk, I wonder if they are custom units?
This really requires a little more information to make a valid parts suggestion, like what engine flywheel conversion to S - 10 T5 are you doing. If you are inquiring about a 10" disc for an early Ford I have these in stock as well as a 9" version, they are specially designed so the clutch drive hub does not rub on the crank bolts.
Dick, thanks for the reply. I'm about to do the T-5 to flathead swap in my F-1. I have a used S-10 disc and noticed the hub was much longer on the flywheel side than the old ford disc. Was wondering if that would work....because I have heard of guys using stock S-10 discs in their swaps?
Speedway has a 10 inch clutch and is 14 spline s10. Was perfect for early 153 tooth flywheel and 70 nova bell. I think it was like $60
hey guys... Im new to HAMB.. Currently tackling a T5 swap project on a 49 F-1. Im having trouble with bolting a late model pressure plate to my flathead flywheel. ...no luck so far with machine shops, they say I need a pattern. Any ideas??
Pacu, what do you need a late model pressure plate for? If you have the stock 49 Pu 10" flywheel you just use the stock 10" pressure plate for the 49 Pu.
Yep, you run the Ford pressure plate with the disk that matches the trans and has the right or close to right diameter.
Go to Rock Auto and do a search for an earlier s-10. They list a v-8 conversion utilizing the stock t-5. That's with the 10 3/8" 1" X 14 spline disk (which is a t-5) and Chevy pressure plate for a small block flywheel bolt pattern. RhinoPac/World Car part #04054 it's just under $104 and you'll have it within a couple days. I've got a Dodge hemi with a HotHeads kit for a Chevy manual. I'm using a t-5 and played hell trying to get the right combination of disk/pressure plate. The kit mentioned bolted right up. I did have to shave the disk's hub, front bearing retainer and input shaft a tad as the t-5's input shaft is approx. 1" longer than a typical 4 spd.
I have the same set up on my Baby Hemi with stock truck bell and flywheel, posted this info (Rino) a few post up BUT nobody seemed interested so I deleated it. Don't think he is looking for the 1" shaft size?
91015641 is the number for the 10" 14 spline disc http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Chevy-T-5-Transmission-to-Flathead-Adapter-Kit,35584.html scroll down under the adapter kit you'll see the disc there
hey dick Thanks for the insight. I was caught up in trying to follow a project I found online. http://www.systemv.us/clemmie/trans/t5/ they mention changing the pressure plate to a late model: Clutch Masters P/N 351519. Q: Will I have to make any mods with the stock PP? Crank bolt heads? Speedway housing?
I was told the big disk came in the chevy astro van with 4.3 engine...don't know how factual this is, but it may be a lead.
Pacu I used that ClutchMasters pressure plate to solve my clearance issues in the adapter mini-bell housing for my BW T-10. Used a Mustang disc with the right spline count and diameter for the pressure plate. Have an aluminum flywheel with both B&B and Long bolt patterns, so fitment was not an issue. This is a flathead in an F-1.
Nitro, I used the 87 Astro 4.3 disc behind my 250 6 cylinder but it is a 11" (matches the truck pressure plate). Oreilly part # BBD 4212 for the disc only
i used a late 70s early 80s truck bellhousing with my t5 conversion it worked great with my large chevy flywheel and a clutch kit from an 85 thru 89 chevy astro or safarri with a 4.3 it is a 11 inch clutch but if you have a small flywheel it will not work as they are a 10.4 or 10.5 inch disk surface really bad for me when i got the right bellhousing for my v8 camaro the large flywheel was bigger than my housing but the 10.3 conversion kit works with the swap i made 14 by 1 inch spline are hard to deal with when you have a mild or higher v8 anything smaller than a 10 inch clutch will burn out quick i have found out the hard way so good luck
So for the 270 6 bolt GMC flywheel that I have, the pressure plate # 5472 matched to a 4212 clutch, with the long throw out bearing looks like the ticket for this application.
Don't have the part # but we used the Astro van disc on the T5 and the stock '49 Ford flywheel and pressure plate. Ours is the two piece bell housing with an adapter for the tranny. We did have to machine out the center depression in the flywheel about a 1/4" to clear the rivet heads in the Astro disc. We had the flywheel off anyway to replace the starter ring gear. This set up works SWEET!
On a fford, this thread got hijacked by the fford guys. I think I'll call my 302 GMC 6 the Flat Head Hunter. See you boys on the road.
